Can rinnegan use genjutsu

The madara clone switched back to sharingan to place A in a genjutsu. If the rinnegan has the capacity to use genjutsu then why did he switch back.

All genjutsu are diff in there own way. but madara is new to his rinnegan it might feel the same when he use it.

Well, Narutopedia says this. Although as you all know, it's not exactly 100% reliable, but it's definitely a valid source of information.

Nagato always has Rinnegan activated, so therefore to use a genjutsu, Rinnegan has to be there. Whether it's a Rinnegan based Genjutsu is something I don't know.

I think it should have it, but so far it hasnt shown any genjutsu abilities. And anyways, if the rinnegan evolving from ems is true then why would rinnegan need genjutsu? They can just go ems genjutsu, maybe thats why rinnegan doesnt have any.

Rinnegan can't do genjutsu's because there is meant to be no need for it to be able to because rinnegan it is meant for uchiha's and is in their uchiha blood. Nagato couldn't do a strong one most likely because he is not an uchiha and never had the sharingan.

If I can recall, kakashi was either holding pein's weapon, or got stabbed with it.. And we all know what nagato does with those weapons... The influx of nagato's chakra made him miss point blank..

as for can rinnegan cast genjutsu? Well we know little of it, but casting genjutsu through eye contact is an ability unique to sharingan.....And rinnegan doesn't have all the abilities of sharingan.... Movement prediction, genjusu etc aren't passed over.... Rinnegan has its unique skill set...


Having the rinnegan potentially gives the wielder master of the yin element, so in a sense they are genjutsu masters... But can it CAST genjutsu? like sharingan? Likely not

rinnegan doesn't need genjutsus it has something much better,1 is the chakra disruptions blades the blades that disrupt the chakra of whoever is stabbed paralyzing the movement and also making the rinnegan appears in the enemy's mind influencing them to some degree, and remember that influence is so strong that it took kurama and sage mode to break it,plus this method can be used to control enemys or tailed beast 2 it has naraka path that works good for restoration and interrogation, the only thing you have to do is get a hold of the enemy once you do not only does it make them incapable of moving but if you ask them a question and they lie they instantly die due to getting their soul snatched out,this path can also temporarily kill an enemy 3.it can use human path to read a persons mind against their will and instantly killed them afterwards 4.it can use the chakra chains to bind and control its enemy's even if its several tailed beast so yea... with all that does it really need any genjutsus?
