If the writer wants him to in the future, he can. But the idea of liquid Luffy troubles me for some reason.

blackbeard can take away luffy's powers and then melt him more easily by doing various things

that is the least thought out answer in history ...... if blackbeard takes away luffies powers it means luffy is no longer rubber which means he is flesh and bone and cannot be melted

Well yes and no if Luffy was to be hit by like lava or something then he would melt but if your speaking about a power to melt I don't think it's possible because he wouldn't be able to move around meaning he'd die

I don't think Luffy can do such stuff as his rubber seems most of the time to be the hard kind like the ones used on mallet heads. I doubt he will get a 4th gear as g2=speed and g3=power, Luffy is the brawler type Oda won't give him any techniques like shape mimicking, that's just the way I see it anyway.

I both agree, and disagree with what you said. Yes, the guy you commented against didn't think it through. No, flesh and bone can melt.
There are many ways to dispose of a dead body. Common ways are to burry or cremate the body. But there is also a freezing chamber, like walt disneys grave, and a liquidification process. So, the human body can be turned to a liquid. And the process of a solid turning to liquid is melting. So, technically, you're wrong.
