he just made a tiny hole and the explosion was sucked up because it was an explosion. he can't do that with object that have a physical form.

Kamui is possess powerful suction just like a black hole, nobody can resist against it so the nature or composition of the thing being warped does not matter

You can see when obito sucks up people all of them get sucked up within his eye, in such a small space, you can even google black holes and see that the size of a black hole is incredibly small compared to the things it sucks up

So what ultimately matters is the area of effect and in this case the area of effect is bigger than a person

What Madara meant by saying that Sharingan's true power is unleashed when both eyes are together is that Kakashi and Obito have different versions of Kamui and can't use it to its full extent unless one of them somehow got their hands on both eyes.

It has NOTHING to do with how the jutsu itself works.

Kakashi can not only warp a person, but many other things, including:
-Gedo Mazo's head
-Explosions much larger than humans (he could do it even at the beginning of Part II)
