This creates the possibility that he can wield any particular weapon that would normally carry a physical or spiritual cost.

He could have run along with any mask and had said mask fully streaming an elemental blast through his body to turn both him and his scythe/staff into a living elemental that cannotbe touched. He would be tearing through any defence as Asuma intended to, but with both his body and weapons as well as with any element of choice. Imagine that fire guy from Fantastic Four, but with any particular element.
Secondly, we have the various special weapons. Only Kisame could wield the Shark Blade due to the energy cost associated with it. Hidan could freely swing it around, assuming it consents, knowing it cannot drain him nor consume him due to his physical and spiritual protections. And if it refuses to consent, he could probably blackmail it with his curse by stabbing it once. (That aside, I suppose any battle between them would be similar to the Feng Shen Ji battle between the demon boy with a torture box and the divine being with reversal powers). We have Itachi keeping the Sealing Blade inside his highly taxing energy armour when he could freely wield it by hand (especially with the foresight benefits of his eyes) which implies it carries its own energy cost. Hidan would have no problem there and could probably extend and shape it better than Itachi due to his immunities. The same should apply with Orochimaru and the Telepathic Blade. Then there is Will Blade as used by TT Host Obito. With the blade having strength determined by willpower Hidan could push himself to practically no end without having to worry about any psycho-somatic drawbacks. Any other tool, particularly one with drawbacks, should be free pickings to him.
Besides these special types, he could also use normal weapons to no end. He could apply a tactic of continuously throwing and fetching the same kunai or shuriken at an opponent until they tire out. He could lay an entire field of cat traps (mukibishi) knowing they are inconsequential to his movement. He could also use sealed weapons, such as explosive tags that summon more of themselves to no end.
Can we say, then, that with his invulnerabilities Hidan can wield any weapon that is available to no end bar that of the weapon itself? What say you?
