Can edos use rinnei tensei?

Obviously they can't. Their souls are already theirs as Edos (sorta), so they'd have to rip out their own soul, therefore die. Once dead, the Rinnegan has no control over the soul's path because the Rinnegan user is dead. So Obito will have to be the one to guide Madara's soul to his new body.
That's how I make sense of it at least.

Rinne tensei is a jutsu that most likely consumes the casters life no matter what, since madara is an edo, he cant give up his own life to revive himself, or others for that matter.

I think that edos cant use the rinne tensei because of this, they cant kill themselves because they're undead. Unless rinne tensei stole their soul then the edo can revive whoever they want all the time. This would make rinne tensei broken, as madara would be able to revive his brother & multiple other shinobi with absolutely no consequences.

Madara cant perform the technique since hes still dead and a edo, hes using obito to revive him.

Rinne Tensei can be casted when you're an Edo. and it doesn't take your life unless you have like 5% chakra left like Nagato had...
But Madara can't use Rinne Tensei on himself!

I think - it has been already stated: To revive a long dead person with rinne tensei, rinne tensei user has to sacrifice himself. This means the soul of rinne tensei user is gone to revive that long dead person.

Now if Edo Madara will use rinne tensei to revive himself then Madara's soul will be sacrificed so rinnegan power will rendered useless for a dead edo hence Madara could not be revived.
