Getting trapped on a genjutsu doesn't undermine one's establish expertise at using it. Case in point; Kurenai successfully casting Itachi on genjutsu.

If anything, your level of expertise is only considered if you can't break out of it.

Sarada was able to successfully free those trapped by the Byakuya-gangs, which implies she's no incompetent, but an expert if we used the benchmark you added.
