[Discussion] Can anyone explain what happened to the funny Tobi??

Can anyone explain what happened to the funny Tobi?? was it s split personality or different people. The Tobi who worked with Deidara.

Psychology Tobi was a persona created by Obito to cope with the pain, and so he wouldn't face reality.

realy good question i was wondering about ,
to some extent i couldn't accept that both are the same character not only due to the very very wide difference between both but more importantely due to the different in their voices

i am waiting the chapter of young obito and madara in the cave to be animated _after 1year at least =D_ , one of the zetsu was as funny as funny tobi and typically the same appearance

It was most likely a facade, but there is a possibility that he had a split personality, there were some theories about that after the chapter with the spiral zetsu

Think of the character difference between Clark Kent and Superman, Obito did the same as Tobi, You act differently, tack differently,stand and walk differently and you will be surprise how you can fool people.

I think the point of his persona was to not draw attention to himself as being the leader of akatsuki, so he acted like an idiot for the most part to avoid suspicion not only from villages that are against the akatsuki, but also from his comrades. As for how he attained that personality, I can only reach two conclusions, either Obito has always had that quirky sense of humour, or that whenever he merged with Zetsu, it had an influence on his personality, seeing as Zetsu is essentially a copy of Hashirama; one of the quirkiest, if not the most in the narutoverse.

You know, I always thought that the 'stupid' Tobi was the Spiral Zetsu 'taking over' as the dominant personality (assuming that he was still some how attached to Obito's body and absorbed so that it didn't look as obvious as when they first merged, or my other theory is that parts of the Spiral Zetsu's body were in fact used to replace the parts of Obito's body that were damaged during his supposed 'death because look here

the Spiral Zetsu looks as if a part of it's body was cut off but it doesn't really add up because it looks like the right half of the Spiral Zetsu was cut off while the left half of Obito's body is part Zetsu like)
But at the final battle between Sasuke and Deidara , the Spiral Tobi 'dies off' from Deidara's suicide bombing, possibly a significant part of "Tobito's" body got damaged that now Obito was to take over as the Dominant personality, because if you notice it's after this fight that we see "Tobi" being more serious and we also see him talking to Pein and Konan revealing himself as being the sort of "master mind" behind Akatsuki (I wish I could post a link but I don't remember the chapter this happened)
Though maybe that doesn't work either because when Tobi runs into Kakashi's team later, during the final fight between Sasuke and Itachi he acts like "Tobi" despite this being a long time after Deidara's death but this could also be an act...
