[Question] can admins see pms?

there's more incentive to nose around the mail of someone you know. i know for a fact if I were admin or mod or whatever, i would snoop to get the scoop on people i am curious about, succumbing to the temptation in a heartbeat. or maybe it's just because i'm undisciplined and unprincipled.

anyway, maybe not your site particularly, but I can think of some sizable ones i've been on in the past where the staff are reprobate. so it sends a shiver down my spine to think these people have that sort of information at their fingertips.

Cyber *** at a family friendly forum with a significant number of minors... I hope you are not targeting anyone under 18.

One should never assume that anything transmitted over the internet is, in fact, truly "private." Those who have access to database entries can see you emails and messages anywhere in one way or another.

As for NB, yes as already replied, admins can view it. That said, no one has time or intention to snoop through your PMs.
Admins do not go through your PMs unless they have proper reasons to like in cases when someone reported harassment via PMs or spam or some other negative behaviour detrimental to the community or a threat to site.

Otherwise a PM is checked only when it's reported.

Don't misuse that facility and they will remain private. Their purpose is enabling private convo. Not to break forums rules or cyber or other laws.
