It's not fake, Activision changed it back to Call of Duty because there was some survey saying sales will drop due to un-recognition of the Call of Duty title.

Also it was on Infinity Ward's Twitter page.

your wrong elias, go to the modern warfare 2 website, or gamestop.com..its Modern Warfare 2. Modern Warfare is its own stand alone series now...it will no longer officially carry the "Call of Duty" title.

They wanted to put more emphasis that it's a Modern Warfare game, but still has it's Call of Duty roots.
