These guys along with kisuke are my top 3 fav bleach characters, anyway I would give it to byakuya. He has the mastery of not only his bankai but kido and shumpo also. He is probably the more experienced swordsmen too. I have to say though that hitsugya is my favorite character.

I hope you all realize that Hitsugaya never mastered his Bankai until after the time skip. He's a once in a century prodigy. People don't know what that means. Kyoraku even said that in 100 years time he would surpass even him.

byakuya before his bankai got stolen ..
hitsugaya has not mastered his bankai fully ...given 100yrs of time he would probably be able to defeat current byakuya ...but byakuya would hav also improved a lot by then ...

.....ugh. Two characters that spam Bankai, but I'll go with Byakuya right now:

Hitsugaya has mastered his Bankai since the time skip. It's just a matter of us seeing what he can do with it now.
And no, in 100 years Hitsugaya would destroy Byakuya. Kyoraku said that Hitsugaya is a rare genius who would surpass him in 100 years. Byakuya's highly skilled but he is no prodigy like Hitsugaya. In 100 years time he'd be surpassed by Hitsugaya just like Kyoraku would.

Aaah, but being a prodigy doesn't necessarily mean he could win remember byakuya has much more experience and his bankai is pretty powerful also sometimes toshiro let's anger and rage get the best of him and was nearly killed by Aizen. Byakuya is arragont and proud but he doesn't let it get to him.also, even if toshiro used his ultimate technique remember senbonzakura can be used as a shield as well. But this is my opinion both are awesome characters
every1's zan spirit gains more power as the time goes by ...yamamoto xplained it ...shunsui said toshiro could surpass his CURRENT bankai given a time of 100 yrs ...i agree he's a prodigy ...being a prodigy still he takes 100 yrs then think how powerful would be the captains fully mastered bankai after 100 yrs ...
n remind u byakuya is also a prodigy ...he's a wielder of powerful zan spirit n master in kido... he was graduated at the very young age...he's 2nd best in using flash steps in entire gotei 13 ...

Kyoraku is hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of years old. He was one of Yamamoto's first students, and one of the oldest Shinigami as of now. He has room for a little more growth...probably, but for the most part he's reached his prime. He's fully mastered his Bankai already. So what the hell do you even mean by his "current" Bankai? His Bankai has no more room to grow. Even Byakuya's shown to have thoroughly mastered his. Do you get that?
With that said, he claimed that Hitsugaya would surpass him in a mere 100 years. No one but a once in a century prodigy like Hitsugaya could surpass someone of Kyoraku's age in that short amount of time:

He doesn't say his "current" self. He says, straight up, that Hitsugaya will be stronger than him in about 100 years.
Show me the manga page where it says Byakuya graduated at a young age.
Show me the manga page where anyone has ever referred to Byakuya as a prodigy.
Byakuya is skilled, but he is no prodigy. Behind all of his Bankai techniques, Shunpo, and Kido lie mountains and mountains of training. He was raised and prepared to inherit the responsibilities of the Kuchiki Head since birth, whereas Hitsugaya was just a kid in Rukongai who was recruited probably no more than 50 years ago:

You say you get what it means when people say Hitsugaya's a genius, but it's clear from the way you talk that you really don't.
