Is it plausible that the sage and his bro had byakugan? or the sage just had sharingan(Which later awakened to rinnegan according to BZ) and his bro had byakugan? what do you think? :eww:

Sage was born with rinnegan and kaguya back then was the only one with byakugan according to the manga. Sages brother might have had rinnegan also ... but there's is to little information on him to guess

OT,Personally. I think the sage did have sharingan from his mothers 3rd eye while his bro had kaguya's byakugan. Kinda makes sense.

I think both had Byakugan but hagoromo's changed to rinnegan when he became juubi jin

Kaguya(yin) ate the fruit(yang) became an instable yin/yang mix.
She divided into yin and yang , creating opposite twins.
Hago had shari(yin) , his bro byaku(yang) , hago's bro transfered his yang to Hago making him yin/yang (shari+byaku=rinne).

We only saw Naruto doing something like that in live.That doesn't mean that it is impossible.
Look at that setup:

Or a sealing jutsu? From what ive read about those rope and paper thingies, its about turning an object into a shrine or in this case a medium in order to seal the spirit in that said object/person. But im not so sure if its right. Too lazy to delve into it XD

Ask them.When you come to those "arguments" , it's often the end.
There are many hypothesis that could fit the vague story we have.

They knew their mother was stronger...
Maybe they wanted to copy her...
They were smart and realized yin/yang mix is stronger than if separated...

Shimenawa (shinto ropes) are used to seal spirits in items or humans(Yorimashi) in the shinto religion.
