I agreed although if the sharingan really decended from the Byakugan; which has so many abilities I'd expected to get a little more than a "helping tool". Especially as one of the great Dojustu hell.. Black Zestu's recorder eye is just as helpful

This is the quote from naruto.wiki and I believe it's true:

"Some characters believe that the Sharingan was somehow derived from the Hyūga clan's Byakugan. It is however revealed by Tobi that the Sharingan is evolved from the Uchiha Clan Ancestor's dōjutsu, which devolved from the Rinnegan. It is unknown where or even if the Byakugan fits into this lineage."

Yes but the thing is, why has it been portrayed as being so far beneath the Sharingan & the Rinnegan?

Well, rarer and harder to obtain the skill is, the more powerful it is. Rinnegan is a legendary dojutsu unlocked and possessed by So6P himself and Madara, since it's possible that Nagato got his from Madara, but that's another topic. So only those two out of hundreds of thousands of shinobi that existed unlocked it. Basic Sharingan is not really above Byakugan, it does have some genjutsu, but it doesn't have Byakugan's 360 degrees vision. MS however is hard as **** to unlock and very rare. EMS even rarer because you need two shinobi with MS to create one. And Byakugan, well Hyuga are just born with it, they only need to train to enhance it.

Byakugan really isn't a fodder as much as you guys claim it is, in fact, it is powerful enough for other villages to consider it a must have treasure. Hinata was kidnapped because of it, and Ao's Byakugan is considered a very important possession of Hidden Mist. You guys are just overlooking Byakugan's importance. 99% of shinobi in Naruto world fight in ninja-fashioned way; they hide, ambush, set traps, trail, mask their presence etc because they are not gifted with godlike powers of those 1% of shinobi the manga is currently focused on, the 1% that made Byakugan look like crap because of their abuse of Mangekyo Sharingan and Rinnegan. Trust me, being able to spot everything in a mile radius, including every single shinobi, trap and barrier is a major advantage. MAJOR.

Byakugan doesn't need anything else. It is not Hyuuga's source of power. Their source of power is their taijutsu. Byakugan is just a helping tool.

never thought about percentages but you are right... :D

byakugan is a waste of time man

It's a waste of Kishi's time. Other people could see the true potential that neji had with his skill level with the byakugan in the original naruto series as he was one of the most powerful gennin in the chunnin exams. In shippuden, he is now reduced to being just another ninja who just happens to be a part of the Konoha 11 and another stepping stone for Naruto, who I already understand is the main character, so it is reasonable.

However, Kishi has completely ignored Neji for the majority of shippuden, albeit his scene with team guy and kisame, and his quick debut with the others in the war.

I agree with you 100%

It's not that it doesn't need anything else, it's just that the gentle fist style is considered one of the deadliest taijutsu's, and yet the most we've seen of it is against kidomaru, very briefly with kisame clone and pain, and other fodder ninja. It doesn't show the true potential that it has against any truly formidable foes and actually have an effect. While Pain may have been formidable opponent, a battle with Neji or Hiashi would have been much more entertaining as their taijustu skill is vastly different from hinata's, and they would have put up a much better fight than she did despite her improved techniques.

Instead, Hiashi was probably busy overseeing the safety of his clan and team guy was away from the village where neither of them was able to help out in any way.

The hyuuga clan was considered the most powerful clan after the uchiha, as they were considered rivals in prestige and power, yet, their abilities are underappreciated and are reduced to mere fodder ninja helping out in the war.

I'd like to see more of Byakugan personally, we've seen the Hyuuga family, I just want them to fight.

Paths of Pain are just corpses remotely controlled with chakra. Gentle fist doesn't affect them.

They would be able to see the chakra with their byakugan and use their taijutsu abilities to halt the flow of chakra rods.

Idk it would seem that after all of the hype about Neji and the Byakugan at the series start.. That it should've been explained or even enhanced at some point especially since Neji is a genius and Hanabi is considered a prodigy: Such a disappointment

Off topic, but I alway wanted an ep where Hinata whoops up on Hanabi.
