[Theory] Byakugan 白眼 True Origin

Hey ,

Before I get started with my theory, I want to mention few things with this community. There're alot of people rambling about the series are over due to the Kaguya sealed incident in the latest chapters, however I think there should be alot of stuff that needs to cover regarding Kaguya and the event that revolves around her. People need to realize that this isn't even close to wrapping up the manga and even now there're thesis going on mostly regarding Hagaromo being too sketchy and as such.
Kishi isn't the type to leave everything plain and simple which result anti-climatic without any plot twist as such with this latest chapters. I believe there're many opportunity to fit and squeeze in everything left remaining in Part 2. Naruto the Last Movie in Part 3 are just going to be the epilogue, so there's no need for Part 3 because there's no story to tell as it continue milk the series.

Here's my advice that I always said too many people for those who are deluded into believing this series are close to ending. Do not underestimate the term "Relevancy" or "Fodder" in this series.

Also I would like to give my special thanks to ChakraCrystal known asLady Byakugan to whom I worked with so please give her a ton of credits.

Now lets begin shall we?

There are three Eye Techniques/Abilities that which we know of the Narutoverse, yet we don't have a whole lot of information on neither of them and the one we have the most on is the Sharingan . Now the three that we know of are the following:

  • Sharingan
    [*]Byakugan
    [*]Rinnegan
We learned that the Sharinnegan originates from the Holy fruit of the Shinju which is how Kaguya was able to unlock her Third Eye which then passed down to Hagaromo that obtained the Rinnegan later devolved into the normal Sharingan which we all know when Hagoromo had kids of his own. However what happen to Hamura and the Byakugan, we don't know. The only thing which we know of these eyes are that they still exist within the Hyuuga clan. We've yet to know any extent of knowledge to the secret of the Byakugan. One could simply asked why the Cloud Village kidnapped young Hinata from the Main Family. Kaguya haven't used the Byakugan any more advanced than Hinata or Neji. Does it mean that the Byakugan holds power which we have yet to see?

Kakashi Hatake stated that the origins and secrets of the Sharingan was held within the origin of the Byakugan. It wouldn't make any sense to say that the sharingan or rinnegan is the offspring of the Byakugan when it was already stated that the Senju (Ashura) and the Uchiha (Indra) combine it mutate into a Rinnegan and that origin from the Holy fruit which influence the obsession of power that contain curse of hatred which is why Kaguya was later become known feared as a demon.

If you look at the Juubi carefully, it shows both the Rinnegan and Sharingan in its eye, yet there is no Byakugan mixed in there, implying it is unrelated. If Kishi wanted, he could have made juubi's eyelike obito's war mask so to represent all three eyes; tomoes with ripples and a white colour, yet he makes the juubi's eye red instead.

Then there's the fact that Sharingan (in MS/EMS state) and Rinnegan have demonic powers unlike Byakugan. There's also the fact that Byakugan is something Hyugas are naturally born with, while sharingan has to have special chakra sprout in order to awaken while rennigan needs ashura+indra to awaken.

Also, while Rennigan and sharingan can't be deactivated by foreign users, Byakugan can be. It doesn't really mean much, but it once again shows a difference between the byakugan and the other two eyes. So knowing that Byakugan is almost certainly NOT apart of the juubi, is it really satisfactory to say Kaguya had it and leave it at that? I don't think so, hence why I believe it is an eye that is naturally found in Kaguya's species.

I think the Byakugan is a celestial Dojutsu. Hiashi refers the Hyuga power being the Celestial in chapter 101. Here In Viz Translation Hiashi Quotes "He is truly is... A Fearsome Natural Talent... So The Divine Shinobi Blood of the Hyuga Clan Resides in a child of the cadet Branch who can never become Heir...?"

Here's the words in Japanese thanks to takl

まさに…恐るべき天稟よ… 日向の天忍の血脈は…決して後目と れぬ分家の子に宿っているというの … ヒザシよ…やはり日向の家はお前が 」

Translation : O that truly formidable gift (of his)...the blood of celestial (/space) shinobi of the Hyuga is dwelling (/is prominent) in the branch family child who can never be the head of the clan

Though, to be fair, "divine" tends to refer to Gods or Godesses .... You know, like what Kaguya is.

Then again ... kanjis in Japanese can be read in many ways..... Take Hinata and hyuga. ..... They both can be written using the exact same kanjis

Or the word "kami" can mean many things, from holy, to god, to divine.... So it could be that there are multiple meanings.

I know the VIZ scans should be most reliable... But it would seem like the translators thought Divine would suit better than celestial at the time.... I mean, that happened all the way back 500+ chapters ago..... If i was translating that, and came across it.....It would have seemed weird to me for Hiashi to call his clan celestial beings... So it could be a misinterpretation.

However I think it's plausible that the Byakugan is a genetic trait of whatever species Kaguya is. Since it CLEARlY doesn't come from the juubi

Kaguya was taken from the The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter... and Kishi uses japanease mythology to inspire himself . Kaguya is possibly relate with the Moon People and Byakugan is the celestial dojutsu concludes that the Byakugan was among the first dojutsu.

Conclusion

  • I think Rinnegan, Sharingan, and ALL elemental kekkai genkais came from the juubi. I think the only two kekkai genkai that come from Kaguya and/or her species are the Byakugan and Kimimaru's bone manipulation

Byakugan is from another planet. Kaguya is from a "Far Away Land".. And Hagoromo said where she's from isn't important, foreshadowing her true home which is most likely IMO another dimension. Byakugan was probably common in the other dimension as well, but the reason Kaguya needed an army was to take down the threat which I assume drove her away, and probably killed her people. White Zetsus wouldn't be much help though, haha.

Hagoromo is definately hiding something I know it.

You better hope he's hiding something, cause it looks like you did a lot of research. If you're wrong I'm guessing you waste +1hr researching. I personally think he will just tell the story of his mother, where she's from, and fade away along with the Kage. I want to get a move on with the story :'(

Oh I also think he'll help with the tree and moon.

Wouldn't the logical assumption be that their AREN'T more advanced uses of the Byakugan?

I fail to see how that is at all logical. The logical conclusion is that we do not know whether or not a more powerful use for it may exist.

When you start digging into Taoism and how it applies to the Naruto Universe.... Taoism IS the Naruto universe. All chakra behaves according to the rules of Taoism (where "Eight Trigrams" came from - so that should grab your attention). It forms the basis for Naruto's seal (the Four Movements that later comprise the Eight Trigrams) and also describes the action of Sage Mode. Becoming a Sage in Taoism is the art of action without effort - wei wu wei. It is also the process of internal alchemy that is intended to produce "true Yang" - which is doing nothing. The abilities of Sage Mode are also in line with Taoist beliefs about what attaining True Yang is like.

Then you consider that the Byakugan is essentially the awareness of Sage Mode without the absorption of chakra. The Byakugan complies with the concept of Taoist sagehood, as well - being "one" with the universe. Neji's talk of Destiny is in line with Taoist Divination within the models of Taoist Destiny. It can be taken that the Byakugan is able to see Destiny - or portions of it (though it is capable of being improperly interpreted - as Neji did regarding Naruto, assuming that the shared destiny of Naruto and Hinata implied Naruto was to lose to him).

I think the Byakugan was far more clearly thought out than the Sharingan - which had a lot of 'make it up as you go along' elements applied to it. Kishimoto got too absorbed in the story of Naruto and Sasuke while leaving his main plot on the back-burner so long that power-creep got the best of his story.

Although there is still plenty of potential for the Byakugan to be 'more powerful.'

The Hyuuga are never depicted using ninjutsu. This is not just because the Hyuuga are 'arrogant' - but likely because they are unable to use ninjutsu.

Here is where a distinction likely exists between the original Head Family and the Branch Family. The Head Family likely descend directly from the Ototsuki. The Branch Family quite possibly descend from Hamura. Along with this, it is quite likely that only the Head Family can fully access the techniques of the Byakugan (and the 'Cursed Seal' likely has a purpose seated in this, as well).

These techniques involve being able to manipulate the flow of nature chakra, directly, thereby eliciting any elemental effect.

I will also posit that the Hyuuga (or Ototsuki) are the original practitioners of what Hagoromo would term "Ninshuu." The "Gentle Fist" was not just a destructive combat art - but also a way of interacting with the natural energies of others (which would exist even without the chakra of the Juubi).

Thus, a Hyuuga who has become a "Sage" would not possess a massive amount of power - merely wield a massive amount of power. Rather than drawing in nature chakra for use in Ninjutsu - the Hyuuga would essentially use Ninshuu upon the universe, itself - which would cause the very fabric of the universe to alter.

Another great read! Again I think we talked about this before also and I agree.

It seems like you put a lot of effort in it, good job and keep it up bro!
Yea, I just never thought that my post would be beneficial for making good theory, so I thought it would be great to share to the community as nobody never get some chance to see mine.

Well good thinking. I remember also telling you all the time to make your own threads lol, it's very insightful.

Now I wonder if kishi will address that at all in the upcoming chapters.

Likely or perhaps this translation is just a mere fluke or invalid which would debunk everything that I laid out.
I don't think there is a problem with the translation. I'm just not sure if kishi will address it or not. If the Naruto ends in like 10 chapters then I really don't think he will address this. I have a feeling that kishi is kinda rushing at this point and that he might just go straight to the Naruto vs sasuke conflict and what's next for the ninja world and that's it.

It's just a feeling considering the way the story has been handled recently and I hope i'm wrong haha

That's "If" the villains are still lurking out, then there's defiantly a possibility that the series is going to last longer, or else this series will leave off too Anti-Climatic which I don't think Kishi is the type to make too clitche ending.

Exactly there are still possibilities which is why I still have hope haha. But when you think about it, with rumors that it might end in October or whatever, I think there's also the chance that the series just ends like this. Would it be anti-climatic? Yes(which is why I really hope i'm wrong lol) but then if you think about it, the "arc" that we have just experienced was anti-climatic and so who knows maybe he is just trying to finish it.

Like I said I wanna be wrong, I would be so disappointed if it ends like that T_T
