Both had handicaps during their only major battles we've been shown.
Brother Minato some argue wasn't at his prime, while Brother Kimimaro's disease some argue is what made him lose in the end.
Both were part 1 characters, who many assume are outdated and outclassed now.
Brother Kimimaro's fight took place in part 1, Brother Minato's fight took place even before part 1.
Both had talented techniques that are considered the most disputable techniques in the series, even though Brother Kimi's doesn't get as much attention.
We see a new arguement on Brother Minato's FTG at least once or twice a weak, while Brother Kimimaro's bone techs are often overrated and underrated when it comes to defense.
Both were ideally close hand combatists.
Both have feats that can only be praised as 'godlike' and are often used in deabtes in the manner of 'if he could beat x/y or do this, that he can definitely beat w/x or do that'.
Brother Kimimaro took on 100 Brother Naruto chakra fox clones, plus Brother Lee/Drunk Lee and Brother Gaara. Brother Minato's feats were spread out through his entire battle.
Both have beaten very credible opponents.
One Brother Naruto, Brother Lee and Brother Gaara, the other Brother Tobi and Kurama.
Both have a record of techniques that they created on their own.
