I seem to recall it was something along those lines. Isn't Itachi's reply kinda infamous due to his modesty? "I'm not perfect I failed". Wheather the word 'perfect' was used exactly or not is irrelevant. Sasuke still adored Itachi who's footsteps he was always following in and he then said the same for Naruto. Even Fugaku didn't hide his favour for Itachi. The academy knew it aswell.

You're wrong there. Sasuke regained his love for Itachi when he found out the truth and Itachi explained his actions. Sasuke then took it to heart so much that he even incorporated it into his next ideology. His revolution. Thought you'd know this as a Sasuke fan ._.
