Not 100% sure since no one mentioned them trying to compete with each other, but I think Sasuke was talking about his theory/speculation on these guys existing.

Towards the end, after the final fight, Naruto is sitting on the ground in exhaustion, and Sasuke walks along and plops down next to him, saying he’s tired too. Then he jibes at Naruto, saying ‘looks like I won this one. I was right’, and Naruto laughs it off before agreeing.
