Ugh sorry for making my 4th thread on this shit. I thought people might be generally interested in this knowledge ... OrganicDinosaur who is a big name in the Naruto community for translating Japanese, voiced his opinion on the trailer.

Actually, the trailer screen says 戦友= comrade in arms//fellow soldier

Rival is usually written in katakana ライヴァル (when they mention Naruto and Sasuke, for example). There's other kanji that's more distinctly 'rival', but the nuance sorta veers towards 'enemy' for those.

But anyway, 戦友 doesn't really mean 'rival'.

It's like the trailer people wrote one thing but mean something else.....I don't know why?

Sasuke is still 師匠=Master, the way Sakura address Tsunade, for example..
There you go

You are not excited for that? That's the only part about the mini series, aside from Hokage Naruto.

idk why ppl think sasuke will be the new "genin teacher" just bc it says "master".
first off, ppl needs to know that theres a difference bw "shishou" (master) and "sensei" (teacher) in japanese.
a good example would be jiraiya being the master and kakashi being the teacher for naruto.

OD is right. Sasuke is Boruto's "shishou". not sensei.
btw, thanks for making this thread. i was able to explain this misunderstanding now

What exactly the difference between them?

In example: Jiraiya not only taught Naruto to hone his skills, he also treated Naruto as his own son
For Kakashi he treated Naruto more like a student first, and a son second, but he never really taught Naruto much aside from walking on tree's and his elemental nature and FRS technique.

Though I don't believe Kakashi would of taught Naruto further on his own considering they were opposites in terms of abilities/elemental natures. I mean look how far Sakura progressed with Kakashi, lol.

So far Naruto is more like his master, Jiraiya, and does Sasuke call Kakashi or Orochimaru his "master" or "sensei"

Perhaps Kakashi vs Jiraita is not comparison for Master vs Teacher. However just look at Sakura. Kakashi was her teacher, as in showed her the basics (chakra control), but Tsunade brought out her full potential.

Right. Even when Jiraiya died Naruto followed in his footsteps. I would be a bit disappointed if this series turns out to be a way for Boruto wanting to follow in his father's footsteps. I would rather him go with someone completely opposite (Sauske) or go on his own path.

I wish that was the case. However, bolts design leads me to believe he will be just like Naruto. Attitude and probably abilities

We haven't seen much of his personality or character aside from what they want us to see, and none of it has been original thus far. So I have no idea what they are planning to do but it seems to revolve around Naruto more, but his outfit is a plus.

Hopefully something will happen that develops his character in the movie.

He is the obnoxious trouble maker just like his pops. Also his hair (spiky/blond) usually speaks a lot for how his character will fight. Flashy.

Do you think he will stay that way? I mean even Sasuke yearned for his father's attention by training and studying really hard, aside from that we have not really seen Boruto do anything to catch his father's attention aside from playing pranks and being a "brat". Though, we have noticed what he has said. "Watch me crappy old man" and "I'll surpass the old", and "I don't have time to lose"

It would be nice to have a Naruto lead who is not a shounen archetype, and Kishimoto has control of this. I guess we'll find out how far Kishimoto wants to take him.

I won't comment on the flashy part because I have no idea what to expect from him, but we have seen a far variety of characters with flashy techniques. Even Madara/Hashirama/Sasuke have a good handful of them.
