Ugh sorry for making my 4th thread on this shit. I thought people might be generally interested in this knowledge ... OrganicDinosaur who is a big name in the Naruto community for translating Japanese, voiced his opinion on the trailer.

Actually, the trailer screen says 戦友= comrade in arms//fellow soldier
Rival is usually written in katakana ライヴァル (when they mention Naruto and Sasuke, for example). There's other kanji that's more distinctly 'rival', but the nuance sorta veers towards 'enemy' for those.
But anyway, 戦友 doesn't really mean 'rival'.
It's like the trailer people wrote one thing but mean something else.....I don't know why?
Sasuke is still 師匠=Master, the way Sakura address Tsunade, for example..
