I said this before but I do put a lot of faith in the Boruto anime regarding their adaptation of the Momoshiki Arc. Its the fourth adaptation of said arc if you count the novel, and since in this reiteration the anime will probably be giving it its full attention due to its importance in the long run, we'll be seeing a lot of stuff they couldn't fit in into the movie or the manga, like Momoshiki's backstory for one.

When it came to what should we leave out or whittle down, we left the decision to Kishimoto-sensei when we spoke during meetings. So with scenes concerning the enemy character, particularly with Momoshiki, or small scenes during the Chuunin Exams, those were cut.

Was the villain mentioned or hinted at in the movie? No. Was he mentioned or hinted at in the Manga? No. Was he talked about in that interview with the author or script writers? No. Cut scenes does not mean, "We left out a whole character, who was with Momoshiki and Kinshiki".

forshadowed a year ago in the anime and Kishi said he was forced to cut a third otsutsuki. and like i said That third Otsutsuki may be just for the backstory.
