The next generation debuts in less than 2 months! BORUTO, a spin-off of NARUTO, will be making its way as a monthly manga in Shuiesha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine starting May 9, 2016. Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto will serve as a supervisor for the manga. Art will be drawn by Mikie Ikemoto, an assistant of Kishimoto-sensei when he was working on Naruto and written by Ukyō Kodachi, who wrote the screenplay for Boruto: Naruto the Movie.
May 9 is when the 23rd issue of Shuiesha’s Weekly Shonen Jump and Viz Media’s digital Shonen Jump will officially release in Japan and North America. Two weeks before that in the combined 21st and 22nd issue of Jump, April 25, we will get one more chapter of Naruto! It will be a one-shot chapter on Boruto, part of the original Naruto manga, created by Kishimoto-sensei.
It’s unclear if Kishimoto-sensei’s one-shot will take place directly after chapter 700 of Naruto, after the final chapter of Naruto Gaiden: The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring, or after Boruto: Naruto the Movie at this point. As soon as we learn more, we hope to let you know right here on Saiyan Island!
