I wouldn't say the art is shitty. Just a bit different and takes time getting used to it. With all honesty, Boruto's hair when he put the forehead protector on in Kishi's design looked a bit off. With this new art it looks a little average, but not bad

It may get better with time. Have you seen Kishi's style when he first drew the first few chapters? It got better as it progressed.

Kishi is supervising it so therefore if he approves it, then it is canon and no it is not fanfic. Fanfic is if it was written by a fan. The manga is written by the author of Boruto novel and co-wrote the script with Kishi for Boruto movie. Like I said Kishi is supervising it so it is canon.
