Boruto is prodigy

Before he's even academy student can create 3 shadow clones, already utilizes his clones with strategy instead of just charging them at the opponent, has chuunin exam naruto taijutsu skill(basically did a uzumaki barrage), has genin sasuke flexibility in taijutsu(he did a move similar to what sasuke did to kakashi in the bell exam) and beat the TOP student from the previous year in a taijutsu match

All that as a noob academy student. How can you say he's trash or not showing the promised prodigy potential

(Boruto just look good doing his thang because they copy pasted Sasuke on a Naruto look-alike) Folks don't call Naruto a prodigy but no1 in this manga/anime with large chakra reserves like him has ever did 1,000 shadow clones before he was a genin..

A true prodigy is someone like Orochimaru, who was talented, but learned everything through hard work. Boruto on the other hand has good genetics + he is the main char, so he gets a lot of asspull and free power-ups.

I've seen some retarded things on NarutoBase before, but I've never seen 'it's just genetics' as an excuse before. Sheesh. A spade is a spade. Boruto came from two untalented ninja, one rose to the top, the other didn't. Sarada is an Uchiha, a Clan far superior to the Uzumaki and Hyuuga, both her parents are respected high level ninja, and she was ranked below Boruto in the physical assessment.

Regardless, I think what was the most impressive display of his first academy fight was that: It was Boruto's first day of the academy. Mind you, before this Boruto was just a normal kid. He wasn't trained to fight as a shinobi, this is what the academy is for. However Iwabee has been in the academy for two years, he failed twice because he didn't want to focus on the academic portion of school. Meaning he had all the physical skills of a real Ninja, but had the mental skills of a child.

Boruto performed extremely well against him, even though they hinted that Iwabe would of been a lot stronger if he was using his ninja staff. When Boruto learns everything he needs to at the Academy, he'll be a force to reckon with. Alongside Sarada, Shikidai, and Metal Lee.

Boruto has clearly been typed as a prodigy by the author but it is yet to be seen whether or not they ruin his character by trying too hard to make him a cross between Sasuke and Naruto. Some simularities are to be expected but my concern is they will go over board with it.

In my opinion with what we've seen so far, he has great potential as an mc.
