The source I posted doesn't mention if Sumire is getting more development. All it says is that "...the third installment in the 'Academy chapter' of the franchise that centers on Boruto entering the ninja academy along with Sarada, Shikadai, Inojin, and Chōchō to face a coming threat to their school life". Sumire isn't mentioned. But I guess we can expect more development on her character as well.

Boruto had 2 novels up until now. First novel covers from episode 1 to 6, and the second one covers from episode 7 to 12, those should be the two first installments. The third installment should be future events, I think somewhere after Gaiden and before the Boruto movie.

seems like speculation so far, it could just be wrapping up the arc like the anime did for those people who are into collecting scripts

I personally liked the retelling in the manga they did make some interesting changes my only problem is it being a monthly manga

The chunnin exam trials are completely different, including a flag race in the Hidden Leaf. Boruto fights Momoshiki alone in the final battle. Sasuke and Gaara form a duo against the Ootsutsukis. Sarada has already started training with Sasuke via new cutscenes and the Saruiwa summon is expanded upon and gets a proper boss battle with multiple forms that contend against Kurama.

Yeah, though it might be a side quest after the main story, I forget. They share the odd awkward cutscene and it's the trashiest bit of dialogue i've heard that makes it sound like they've never spoken before.

I'm genuinely surprised Sasuke recognised who she was going by the tone of the cutscene. One to avoid.
