"Shueisha announced on Monday that the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga and anime franchise is getting a third novel that will ship on September 4. The novel will be the third installment in the "Academy chapter" of the franchise that centers on Boruto entering the ninja academy along with Sarada, Shikadai, Inojin, and Chōchō to face a coming threat to their school life.

Kō Shigenobu (F.E.A.R., Tenka Ryōran RPGs) is returning to write the novel. Masashi Kishimoto, the original creator of the Naruto manga, is credited for the original work alongside Boruto manga artist Mikie Ikemoto and writer Ukyō Kodachi."

So, I guess this basically means that the Academy Arc will last longer than everyone expected. And more development to Sarada, Shikadai, Inojin, and Chocho.

I never really read novels with this kind of genre. But I guess it'll do. Does novel content get animated on a regular basis in Boruto's case??
The novels are pretty much a written version of the anime episodes. They are writing those novels to back up the anime content so people don't call it filler, I guess.

Sumire is also getting more backstory something that wasn't shown in the anime.
The source I posted doesn't mention if Sumire is getting more development. All it says is that "...the third installment in the 'Academy chapter' of the franchise that centers on Boruto entering the ninja academy along with Sarada, Shikadai, Inojin, and Chōchō to face a coming threat to their school life". Sumire isn't mentioned. But I guess we can expect more development on her character as well.

When the anime ultimately catches up with the manga, the movie will be in its 4th iteration (movie, movie novel, manga, anime), all of which have slight differences when compared to one another. It's too discordant for my liking, but I suppose I shouldn't be complaining about the new content.

I am not talking about the article you posted. I am referring to the other tweet from Jump J Book

Boruto Novel 3 : Sumire's complete backstory not revealed in the anime.

Fifth if you include the Ninja Storm Boruto DLC that reanimates and retells the story in it's own way.

You absolutely get to complain about the new content, because it's not actually new content. I saw Boruto back in 2015.

What new details did they add in the games?

I personally liked the retelling in the manga they did make some interesting changes my only problem is it being a monthly manga
