We all know Naruto had a rival and his name is Uchiha Sasuke, both of them are guys, and Naruto chasing after Sasuke to come back to the Village was sort of manly and interestinng because they were both guys

But now look, we now have Boruto the son of Naruto annd so far I have not seen a possible rival for him, and if we are to look at it that it will be Sarada, then believe it or not Naruto Gaiden will turn to a love story of Boruto chasing after Sarada or Sarada trying to surpass Boruto

For in any Asian story were a boy has a girl for a rival it turns to a love story and they eventually fall in love. Naruto Gaiden will turn to more of battle of emotions than power.

For those who have watched animes where rivals are opposite *** knows what am talking about

Plus Boruto has got to have a rival or else it won't really give him high significance as Naruto when we compared him to Sasuke as he grew in power

Boruto's subtle but mature respectlove for Sarada is all we need.

Naruto GT. That's the only way this happens. I can't see Kishi picking back up after how well the Bortuo movie wrapped things up. Writing a series ending with the ride off into the sunset ending is hard to do without being cliche. He did that. Now's the time to quit.

Kishi would have to give them permission first dont think he would but then again who knows.

as for a rival for Boruto:

Sarada or Mitsuki maybe

Boruto's subtle but mature respectlove for Sarada is all we need.
You see, Sarada and Boruto's relationship is by far one of the best things of the next generation. I never saw them as "rivals" -- Maybe not the same way we see rivals who fight among each other. Boruto and Sarada are more like close friends who bicker with each other back and forth, but still remain to have bond that remains unique from the past gen.

Sarada: Wants to help Boruto, in fact she roots for him quite a lot. Though unlike past female characters, she doesn't allow herself to be caught up in his problems and still remains to follow true with herself (in example of not allowing Boruto to ruin her dream by becoming Hokage because he didn't want to join the Chunin Exams, but still caring enough to support him and his father's situation by telling him Naruto will watch him, along with Katasuke stating the same thing but wanting something else). In Chapter 700, Sarada wanted to follow Boruto due to the prank he was going to do, but in the Movie we see Sarada following Boruto while he trained so she could root for him in her own way. You could see a frowned look on Sarada's face when Boruto gave up at times, but when he came up and started trying harder her face lit up. When Boruto thought he failed to impress Sasuke with his Rasengan, Sarada came from the bushes and started to tell Sasuke that she didn't know Boruto well enough, that it was a miracle he kept training for as long as he did.

Overall her friendship with Boruto is rather refreshing. You have a female character willingly to go out of her way for another person, but still not lose her meaning as a person in the Manga.

Boruto: His feelings for Sarada are more hidden, but still rather obvious at the same time.

While Boruto does not outright want to help her straight away, he begins to root for her. We see early on in the Gaiden that Boruto has a positive relationship with Sarada, and his other friends. In the beginning when Sarada told Boruto she wanted to become Hokage, he scoffed at her dream and saying that Hokage's were weak under his breath. In the Movie, we later see Boruto and Sarada arguing over the same topic. Sarada wants to become a Chunin to further advance herself to the Hokage spot, and Boruto connects 'upgrading as shinobi' to him 'becoming hokage' (Which shows the mentality of how the world looks at him, and it's seen through Mitsuki. They all expect him to become Hokage, which is why for the most part he has no interest in becoming a Chunin.) Eventually, Sarada figures out how to open him up, and he later accepts and joins the Exams.

In the second part of the Exams, Boruto is up against three Genin brothers who can also make the shadow clones (up to 3 each). When Boruto gets overpowered and outmatched, he closes his eyes in anger. He then hears Sarada's voice, and it says she wants to become Hokage, and then it shows a picture of Chunin Exams. So immediately Boruto begins to contemplate on not only his internal struggles with his father, which is why he had the device in the first place (and why he was in this situation) is because he wanted Naruto to look is his direction. But at the same time he thinks about Sarada in this situation and her dream of being Hokage which he only scoffed at, and he starts to use the device. So in that sense, he not only is fighting for himself, but he is fighting for her (whether he admits it or not).

His connection with her is never outright stated by him, he doesn't go out of his way for her like she does for him, but he does enough behind the scenes and in important parts of the story which make you feel for their relationship. When Sarada fell into her knees because of Momoshiki's power, Boruto immediately made a shadow clone to surround her on both sides so that she would feel safe. It's things like this that show you how well these two work together, compared to the past generation's relationship (let's say Naruto and Sakura).

Towards the end of the Movie, Boruto told Sarada that not only does he support her dream of becoming Hokage, he also wants to protect her and retain a relationship that Sasuke and Naruto share.

My god thats so gay
Minato and Kushina started off as rivals for the Hokage spot, and look what happened.

Shikamaru and Temari too doesn't need an explanation.

But at least there's hope that these two characters won't bring each other down like other ships in the Manga who do more harm than good.

I hate BoruSara, but as much as I want them to be rivals, I don't think that's gonna happen. Sadly, they will probably end up as a couple.

If you actually think about, Naruto is actually Boruto's rival.

Boruto wants to surpass him, except the meaning is different. Even at the end of the film Sasuke makes note of him being capable despite the Manga giving him a middle finger.

In that sense, I think he's like Gohan in that perspective and not like Goten (who has Trunks). Even Kishimoto said that with Sasuke/Boruto coming together:

Kishimoto said:
-- 12:42 to 16:02: Scene from the movie where Boruto asks Sasuke about Naruto’s weakness. Those hosting start talking about why Sasuke is Boruto’s teacher instead of Naruto. The voice from earlier asks them if they want to know, and then asks Ocarina (the girl in the room) to do a “cute” gag. Kishimoto then says to think about who Gohan’s teacher was. They understand that he means Piccolo because Kishimoto was inspired by Akira Toriyama. It then says that after the break, Kishimoto will talk about when Boruto was created.

Did they really know why Piccolo became Gohan's teacher? bcus for me it seem like they doesnt know about it.
Yes Kishi was inspired by Akira but Gohan was trained by Piccolo not bcus Gohan want to rival his father but to prepared Gohan physically and mentally before they facing with Vegeta and Nappa. Goku is dead at that time unlike Naruto.

And inside Gohan life history, he never want to rival his father.

They and Kishi need to get the fact right.

It's not completely the same, obviously the situations would be different. Kishimoto was just inspired by them which is why this is the main result.

Well said, numbers and Indra. Mature respectlove between them is the best; with Sarada becoming Hokage and Boruto supporting her from the shadows (in a good way).

He is getting a love story cause Sarada is not good enough to be Boruto's rival.

I hope he gets away from the shadows when she visits the bathroom.
