If there are any such Sakura fans, they probably see him as someone who belongs to her and this fan fantasy as intruding on their favourite ship. On the other hand, this groups of Naruto fans (the ones you mentioned) seems to have realized that the movie Last was too much of a retcon (along with undermining Naruto's character heavily). So they want to establish some new fanon as canon to forget that. Of course just a guess based on the posts here only.
