Since he's an uzumaki I believe the diamond mark on Boruto palm is related to the Byakogou. His Cursemark worked the same function as the byakogou except there are some minor differences. Boruto is essentially storing his own chakra by feeding it to the Curse Seal. Each time the Curse Seal reacted to his chakra, the more it'll expand his body.

Boruto will undergo what Tsunade/Sakura had to go through. Once Boruto release his seal, it'll further boost his power on another tier than Byakogou.
