not like it makes suuuuuper much difference but the age dynamic always plays a role, depending on how young they are.

okay in the movie apparently he is 12

that is when he is a genin and some 2 years have passed or something

so in the anime he is currently 10

Himawaris official age isn't out but we know when we first saw them that boruto was 5 and himawari was 3

So himawari is 10 years old

that is a 2 year gap from the first episode of Boruto and him being a Genin with some mission experience in the movie

the director of the anime was the head of the movie and he stated that he left a ton of stuff out from the movie due to time constraints that he wants to amend in the anime


but then that would have to have Ikemoto and co actually focus on other things in their manga as well

As for the age tho I think it's canon he's 12

As for when himawari awakened her byakugan it was at the time of her Narutos inauguration I don't think it's stated how long ago was his inauguration but I'm assuming it was only a couple years ago I'm sure tho himawari didn't awaken her byakugan at 2 tho
