For me the story ended with the anime. So I don't even care anymore.

Such a great story with so much potential.
All we can do is wait. Maybe Toagshi will have a life changing moment and bring it back. (Or run out of money and have to come back). or they cancel dragon quest
I guess it's time for me to watch the anime and be done with it and not reading the manga.
You haven't watched it yet?
Seriously I don't care at all, HxH is greaty overestimated to begin with. If every writer were to take that kind of huge breaks, then everyone would be great writers, you may that this is an exaggeration but while most mangaka don't dare to take a single break, Togashi only takes breaks...to return to his work! I only wish Tokyo Ghoul was as popular as HxH, typical case of how overestimated and underestimated are HxH and TG respectively.
Not at all, with all the people who i encounter saying that the manga is on hiatus for ages... nah. But now everything has changed, I'ma watch the anime and think that this is an anime only and doesn't have a manga nor a light novel.
As far as I know he wrote the Yorknew city arc with not that many breaks (if you check the release date of the beginning chapter and ending chapter) & Yorknew is one of the best HxH arcs which is enjoyed greatly by the fanbase. No one is claiming that he's perfect when it comes to writing, there's flaws. Togashi's hiatuses really got out of hand during the start of the Chimera Ant arc. If he could write series like YYH & York New city with not that many breaks, that's more than enough to say he's an excellent writer. (not the best but still very good IMO)
I don't get where TG comes into this, is not in the top 10? It's still popular and sells well, I can think of other series that deserve more popularity. Big arcs such as Chimera and now with the Dark Continent are arcs where he takes hiatuses the most due to how important they are to the story. Not only that but you're assuming that his hiatuses are solely based on brainstorming which it isn't. There's another factor such as drawing since he does the drawings mainly by himself.
What I said is about TG was referring to the fact that HxH's fanbase, a fandom that has been waiting forever to get a new chapter, is way more acitve than TG section and yet it's the TG that comes out every week always at top level.
And in any case as for Togashi's drawings, that's just an excuse, he should find another way instead of taking huge breaks, tha's not an excuse. What really annoys the most is how condescending HxH's fans are towards him. They give him freely all the time in the world claiming that HxH is the best thing ever yet I wonder if they would be wiling to do tthe same with other manga. Long story short, I see a lot of bias.
Oh, I thought you were talking about it's popularity in Japan, my bad. That I don't know. I could say the same exact thing about Toriko and it's even smaller than TG's fanbase but you don't see me complaining about HxH lol. That's just jealousy.
It's not? The dude does draw most of his artwork by himself, why do you think it's so inconsistent at times? He even had to go back and redraw some the panels iirc. I'm not biased at all, I just think people really hate on Togashi a lot whenever they got the chance. I know his work ethic isn't great at all but that's mainly because of his stubbornness. If Togashi chooses to have assistants then I can guarantee you that we wouldn't be having so many hiatuses (aside from the recent one). He's stubborn because he has high expectations for his series.
