Background Information

History: Little is known about Booker DeWitt's early life, except that he was born and raised in the Land of Iron. The first time Booker DeWitt was documented was when he joined the Samurai during his teenage years. During these years, Booker was trained among the samurai and showed a great deal of promise to become a powerful samurai later in life. From here, things were largely uneventful for Mr. DeWitt, until, that is, war came to the Land of Iron. Like the other samurai, Booker took up arms against the shinobi who were invading the land he called home. Booker ended up taking part in a battle which would later be referred to as the Battle of Wounded Knee. During this battle, Booker witnessed horrors that were extremely rare for this earth, even on a battlefield. In the end, the Samurai were victorious in this battle, and Booker was hailed as a hero. But there was a price. The horrors of this battle scarred Booker, driving him to alcoholism and gambling for many years.

However, these years in his life weren't all bad. He fell in love with a woman from his country and was happy for a time, until, that is, she died giving birth to his child. Grief stricken, Booker was tricked by a mysterious man to give up his infant daughter several weeks later by a mysterious man. Depressed even further, Booker dips even further into alcoholism, all but forgetting about the existence of his daughter entirely. Recently, men have been coming to Booker and demanding that he pay the gambling debts that he owe, otherwise there would be consequences. Unable to pay the debt, Booker was forced to once again take up his sword, ready to perform whatever job was necessary to wipe away the debt. And thus, Booker found his way once more to the Samurai, with whom he started working with again in order to make money while waiting for his mysterious lenders to tell him what they needed him to do.
