I used the search button, but no results came up, so I assume it hasn't been made or it is a long time ago ...
Anyway, so yes, which do you like better? The book or the movie based on a book?
Keep in mind, I'm not talking about any specific book or movie; I just want to know if people like reading the story more than watching it or the other way around (for example: Harry Potter: did you like it better as a book or as the movie? Lame example, I know, but please bear with me. Keep in mind: this topic is not to discuss Harry Potter; it was just an example to illustrate my question better)

I for one always like the books more than the movies based on it. When I read a book, I can picture it happening in my head and for some reason the movies based on the story never manage to fascinate me the same way as the book did.

So now you: what do you like better: books or the movies based on it?

The Book. Although I probably watch more than I read, the movies are never really the full book. Time restraints and all that jazz. I love imagining the book, like you said, and I hate it when the movie sort of lets me down. One example was about the Mice of Men or something like that. When George killed Lenny in the book, I felt emotion and tension, but in the movie I actually laughed because it was so fast and lacked the tension for me. I imagine something epic and sometimes it's just not as awesome as I imagined. Hope that all makes sense.

Bottom line, I pick book.

Book. Always book. I prefer manga to anime too, but meh let's forget that.
As is, I always find the atmosphere better in a book,

well it depends

Harry Potter books are great and the movies failed them completely

LoTR on the other hand is just more exciting if you read the book and watch the movie, I really couldnt decide on this one, the movie in a way compliments the books and also the Silmarillion and also the Lost Tales and the books compliments the movie. you can see many details in the movies that noone who hasnt read the book could understand

Both. Sometimes books are better sometimes the movie.

Books are always better than what comes out when it's translated into a movie.

Read the book, wait for a couple of months, watch the movie.
