Especially so since Kishimoto made him go through different phases to reach where he ended up now. Cheating is the best thing for his character, because not only did it hold him back, but it also showed the core structure of problems we face today. It's a quite strong message from Kishimoto, believe it or not.

His Rasengan is pretty legit, at first it's quite pathetic looking, but at the end of the movie when he took training seriously, he could make a full version with one hand. I'm not even talking about the Vanishing Rasengan either, just the Regular one.

He doesn't have Chidori, but he does have the Raiton chakra nature, along with Fuuton and Suiton.

Agreed his Gentle Fist is practically useless outside of it being an advanced form of Taijutsu.

He's shuriken throwing is pretty legit, he didn't want to learn it/sucked at learning it, because he didn't want to put the work in. The minute his shuriken didn't hit the mark, he complained (a lot like Shikamaru). He later then performs it the way Sasuke showed him, twice. Kind of funny cause he picked it up really quick when he wasn't acting like a brat about it.
