Bloodborne body types

So, after making my 5th character in bloodborne, I have begun to notice something. Does the body type you choose actually effect the characters model, or is it just there so people who really want to personalize their character are satisfied? The only thing I think that actually changes is on female characters when you change the size of their "upper body"

I think the customization is mostly useless... I haven't even seen my character's face yet...
