Chapter 82: "Ruby Rose"
X didn't bother to look, but jumped up, formed his scythe. A black flaming spike flings at him. X dodges it. Berith teleports and chokes X to the ground. X puts his hand on the ground and rises a few skeletons to get Berith off him. Berith burns the skeletons to ashes. X kicks Berith off. Berith kicks him back. X does a back hand spring, and lands on his feet. Berith teleports and sends many spikes at him. X makes a bone wall.
The spikes burn through the bone.
Kalin: He's going to get hurt out there.
The spikes burn through and shoot around him. X throws his scythe at Berith, and runs at him. Chains of black flames wrap around X and spin him into a daze.
Kalin: Ravi, I'm going to help him.
Ravi: Okay.
Kalin flies over to help X. She grabs the chains and pulls. The chains spike out at her. Kalin sonidos out of the way, and creates a few dozen swords of each element. More chains wrap around X, and some split towards Kalin. She moved so that she was over X.
Kalin: Lightning blast!
The blast was a lot more condensed than the last time she used it. The chains continue to wrap around X. Berith sends more chains.
Kalin: So you just use chains huh?
She withdrew her Zanpakuto. He sends spikes at her. Kalin flies up. The spikes follow. Kalin blocked the spikes. The spikes latch on. Kalin makes black flames explode from her. The spikes bury themselves into her. She grunts in pain, but keeps fighting anyways. They start to poke through her in thin needles. X tries to break free. Berith sends more chains at her. The chains start to spike into X.
Kalin: X...
She goes down to X.
Kalin: X, are you okay?
The chains constrict on X.
Kalin: X!
She looked at Berith.
Kalin: You bastard!
She ran towards Berith with death lurking in her eyes.
Kalin: I'm going to kill You!
Berith makes a sword out of black flames. Kalin charges at Berith. Berith charges at her too, shrouded in black flames. Kalin starts glowing white through the black flames.
Berith: Lightning, huh?
Kalin sonidos behind Berith and puts a blade to his throat. Berith teleports and wraps chains on her. She closes her fists and the air becomes a lot heavier, heavy to the point that it's really hard to breath.
Berith: Blasphemia!(Blasphemy)
Berith transforms into a demon with a skull mask and horns.
Kalin goes to X and takes him to Lady Yanagi.
Kalin: Please help him...
She went back to to Berith.
Berith: I see you're mad because I hurt your boyfriend.
Kalin: He is not my boyfriend!
She flies straight at Berith. Berith swings his arm down with black flames shooting everywhere. Kalin dodges them.
Kalin: I will not let you hurt him again, you bastard!
Berith: If that is so, he must be your boyfriend if you care so much.
Kalin: I care about everyone equally, but I won't let you hurt him.
She flies even closer. Berith flicks his three forked tongues and whips Kalin with them. She cuts one with a lightning sword. It regenerates.
Kalin: Eat this...
She held out her hand.
Kalin: Lightning blast!
The tongues withdraw and the mouth spews black flames burning the lightning. Kalin closed her eyes then opened them again, and the lightning turns to black flames, a lot hotter than normal. Berith's black flames spikes through her black flames.
Berith: You're not a demon, don't act like one when you aren't. Those who can control Nigra Flamma but aren't demons have far weaker wills to control it.
Kalin closes her eyes, and free falls backwards. Black flamed spikes are waiting for her as she free falls. Kalin sonidos a few feet from the ground; to above Berith, and stops. Berith starts to clap his hands with Kalin in between. She doesn't move. The hands splay and form a crushing double fist. Kalin just stays there. Berith completely crushes his hands together. Kalin stays there. The hands close up completely.
Nel: Kalin! Noooo!
From the cracks in Berith's hands, Kalin forces her sword out, and lets the blade sink into the ground.
Kalin T: Get X to my blade.
Nel's spirit energy rises very high.
Nel(in a very serious and firm tone): Declare, Gamuza(Chamois).
She transforms into a goat centaur. Kalin's sword catches on black fire.
Dante T: I will help X over.
Yanagi: I still need to finish healing.
Kalin's energy weakened a bit. Dante picks up X's arm and helps him up.
???(from inside Kalin's inner world): You're almost ready.
Nel: You will not get away with this, monster.
Berith: Oh?
Kalin T: Nel, it's okay, I'm fine.
Nel T: What? Are you okay?!
Kalin T: Of course, don't worry about me. Just help get X to my sword.
Black chains shoot at Dante and X, but a pink cero blows them away. Dante continues to help X over to the Zanpakutō. Yanagi follows. A different voice comes into Kalin's mind.
???: How much longer?
Kalin(to the voices): Not much longer.
Dante and X are almost at the Zanpakutō. Kalin's spirit energy rises higher.
Kalin T: I sense X is near my sword.
Dante: It's here.
Kalin T: Good...
Kalin closes her eyes. Yanagi continues to heal X. The first voice spoke to Kalin.
???: It is time, Kalin.
Kalin: Blood Forest....
The vines came out with the thorns pitch black.
Kalin: It is time...
X winces in pain, and the vines started to cover Berith's feet, cutting them up. Berith lets go of Kalin and tries to pull off the vines, and kick them off. Kalin stayed where she was at, the vines keep growing, and red flower buds form. The vines slowly climb up Berith, and from up above Berith, Kalin sings the Hymn of Fayth. Berith uses the chains to burn off the vines, and pull them off. The vines kept wrapping itself around his feet, but more shot out at his hands, making handcuffs, and spilled the black flames into his blood stream. Black veins appear on Berith due to the hostile black flames. Berith burns off the handcuffs, and reaches for Kalin above him. Kalin stayed there, and smiled as a red bud blooms.
Kalin: She's here...
From out of the red bud came a girl in red. She looks at Ravi and flashes a sweet smile. Ravi looked in bewilderment. She giggled, and turned to face Berith.
Ruby: Berith...I believe she is mine.
Berith: She's supposed to have been killed?
Ruby: Don't even lay one hand on her.
Black chains shoot at Kalin, and more wrap around her. Ruby flies, cuts the chains off of Kalin, and brings her to Ravi.
Ruby: Watch over her.
Ravi: Okay...
Ruby turns and faces Berith. Black chains come at Ruby from behind. With speed she cuts them down without cutting a single piece of hair. Berith teleports and swipes his hand at Ruby. She jumps up and lands on Berith's hand. Berith teleports his hand on top of Ruby. She cuts his hand off.
Ruby: It is very rude to hit a girl you know.
Berith: That doesn't apply to demons. Demons have almost no law, but we do have a hierarchy.
Ruby: I am aware.
She was over by the sword in a split second.
Ruby: That still doesn't give you the rights to hit a girl.
Berith: Demons aren't bound by rights, they are bound by what they do.
Ruby: So...
Berith encases her in Nigra Flamma, completely blocking her, and eliminating any chances of escape.
Kalin: Ruby!
