Chapter 55: "Querencia"
Kalin: We're still in the sea.
Ravi(sighs): This isn't what it used to be.
Kalin: Huh? It probably looked beautiful, but the rain started, and it never stopped...turning it into the sea.
Ravi: No. My inner world used to be so full of life. The sea used to be crystal clear. There was a sun in the sea, and it was raining as rain should. That day... My Inner Hollow took everything I ever had, and choked the life out of my Inner World making it into an empty desert. The sun turned into the crescent moon. The sea turned pitch black with blood. The rain stopped drizzling into the sea, it now rains out of the sea.
Kalin looked sad.
Kalin: I see... Well maybe I can help restore it back to its former beauty.
???: I doubt that.
A figure appears. He has clockwork features on his white pinstripe tux suit.
Kalin: Are you his Zanpakutō Spirit?
Ravi: Ichiji...
Kalin: Who's that, Ravi?
Ravi: Ichiji-tekina Handan.(temporal judgement, Shikai form)
Kalin: Is that your Zanpakutō?
Ravi: Yes.
Kalin: I see. But maybe I can restore this place to its former beauty.
Ichiji: I highly doubt that.
Kalin: Why do you say that?
Ichiji: Take a look at your world, and his world. What is the difference?
Kalin: His is backwards.
Ichiji: No.
Kalin: I don't understand.
Ichiji: His is dead, choked to death. Yours is alive, because he is your querencia.
(Querencia definition: [noun] a place from which one's strength is drawn, where one feels at home; the place where you are your most authentic self.)
Kalin looks down.
Kalin: I still won't give up. If he's my querencia, then I'll be his.
Ichiji: He doesn't have one...he lost them centuries ago.
Kalin: I never knew my mother, but I lost her when my father was murdered, and another when my sister died...I was completely alone, but I didn't give up. Because I didn't give up, I now have a family, and friends...I didn't give up on myself, and he didn't give up on me, so I won't give up on him...ever.
Ravi: We should go.
Kalin looked at Ravi and nodded.
Kalin: Okay.
The inner world turns pitch black, and they open their eyes. A Hell Butterfly flutters about landing on Ravi's finger.
(Shunsui's voice): "All Captains and Lieutenants come to the meeting. Thank you."
Kalin: Probably about the fight.
Ravi: Maybe. Let's get dressed.
Kalin: Right...and Ravi... I meant every word.
Ravi: I know.
As he turns to leave, Kalin see his tattoo on his right shoulder. Kalin didn't ask about the tattoo and got dressed.
Kalin: Ravi...Ready?
Ravi puts on his Captain's Haori.
Ravi: Yeah.
Tamo, now back into his Soul Reaper clothes, Yanagi, and a lieutenant stand at the door waiting.
Kalin: Alright, let's go.
They walk to the meeting.
Shunsui: Everybody is here, yes?
Kalin looks around.
Kalin(thinking): I wonder what the meeting is about.
Everyone: Yes.
Shunsui: Captain Tamo, please step forward.
Tamo: Yes, sir.
He walks forward.
Shunsui: So, you returned as planned. And then we will start part two... That is, invading Hell with a small group of experienced Shinigami and Arrancar. Do you have them in mind yet?
Tamo: Yes, I do.
Shunsui: Good. Now, Captain Ravi, step up.
Tamo and Ravi switch places.
Shunsui: What happened to you when the Ordinis Cecidit, as they call themselves, retreated?
Ravi: My inner hollow took over.
Shunsui: I see. Well, this meeting is over and you are dismissed.
Kalin walked over to Tamo.
Kalin: Part two?
Tamo: The invasion of Hell, or more accurately, Valfor.
Kalin: Ah, and how many parts are there?
Tamo: Just two. We're finally in the fun part.
Ichigo: Ravi, I know it's hard, but keep your head up. Complete Hollowfication is scary, I know. It happened to me too.
Ravi: Thanks, Ichigo-san.
Kalin: Who's all going?
Lenne walks in.
Lenne: Don't ask too many questions at the same time, Kalin.
Tamo: We'll do that tomorrow. It's getting late. Everyone in mind will need some rest.
Kalin: Okay.
Kalin walks with Ravi back to the house.
Kalin: Good night, Ravi.
Ravi: Oyasumi(good night).
Kalin fell asleep, but soon after she did, she had a nightmare.
Kalin: No, no...Daddy. Don't go out there.
Ravi stares at the cieling, thinking about what had happened centuries ago compared to today. After a moment of silence, Kalin screams. Ravi rushes to her room.
Ravi: Kalin?
