Chapter 32: "Ravi and Kalin"
Yanagi: Do not try to kill yourself, it would only make those who care for you weep. I would weep.
Yanagi leaves pulling Lenne along with her still immobilized by Rikūjōkōrō. Kalin lets out a scream.
Kalin: Ravi!
Lenne: She's going to die.
Ravi hears a faint "Ravi!" accompanied with a scream. Ravi shifts into ashes to the source. Kalin hits the floor with her knees, grabs her head, and continues to scream fighting for control from Lenne.
Kalin: I can't...hold her back...I'm loosing control.
Black lightning was coursing through her and the broken down house. Lenne smiled.
Lenne: She's almost there.
Ravi stays in ash form.
Ravi: Are you okay, Kalin?
Kalin: R...Ravi.
She reached out for him.
Kalin: I'm...too...weak.
She screams again. Lenne smiled.
Lenne: ...
A metal pipe went through Kalin's hand. Suddenly Kalin's necklace glows. Yanagi appears to have done something to the purple stone. It heals her faster. Kalin winces at the pain.
Kalin: ...I'm sorry...Ravi.
Lenne's smile gets bigger. Kalin slowly removes the necklace. Another rod went through Kalin's left arm.
Kalin: ...I'm sorry...for...being such a pain.
She hits the floor. Everything dies down]
Ravi: You aren't the cause of it.
An unfamiliar spirit energy comes from Kalin.
Kalin: I never wanted to hurt you...I know you don't feel the same, but...
Ravi: But what?
Kalin smiles.
Kalin: ...
Lenne: Any minute now, and her true power will awaken.
Lenne grinned, and Kalin screams in pain again.
Ravi: You're becoming like I was in my past.
Everything stopped, and blood started coming out of her eyes and mouth. Kalin went still. Ravi touches her arm, it becomes ashes he moves it away from the rods, and he lets go, her arms return to normal. Kalin's eyes opened wide with anger. Ravi notices, but does not move away. Kalin slowly got up, as she got up, bone wings appeared instead of lightning ones.
Ravi: You aren't Kalin, are you?
Kalin: Yes and no.
Ravi: Are you possessing her?
Hollow Kalin: No, I'm merely helping her, but she will need to be healed, and a lot of bed rest when this is done. And no, I'm not going to kill anyone.
Ravi: So you are keeping her from being controlled by someone?
Hollow Kalin: Lenayia is controlling her, but she can't control her while I'm borrowing her body.
She held out her hand.
Hollow Kalin: Come.
A sword appears in her hand. Hollow Kalin takes off a piece of cloth. Hollow Kalin places her hand on Ravi's head, and closes her eyes.
Hollow Kalin: I'll let you talk to her.
Ravi: Are you okay?
Kalin: Ravi!
Ravi: Are you surprised?
Kalin runs up and gives Ravi a hug.
Kalin: I'm scared...what's going on out there?
Ravi: Your Inner Hollow is better than mine... She's keeping you from being controlled by Lenne.
Kalin was still crying due to all the wounds, and covered in blood.
Ravi: You...you look like me when I was covered in blood a long time ago.
Kalin: I'm...s-sorry.
Kalin gripped onto the front of his shirt, and cried.
Kalin: I'm...too weak.
Ravi: It's okay.
Kalin(crying): If I were stronger... Lenne would've never been able to control me...and I would've never had to call out for help.
Ravi: I'm here.
A few minutes went by, and Kalin stopped crying.
Kalin: Was she telling the truth?
Ravi: About what?
Kalin: She said that you had no feelings for me, and that I would be heart broken...
She looked up at Ravi.
Ravi: We Hybrids are the future of Soul Society, that is about the only reason I have to protect others. When you have something to protect, you are strong. But it still doesn't change the fact I am far weaker inside myself...
Kalin: So she was right...
Kalin stood up and walked over to a river.
Ravi: You are someone I have to protect for Soul Society.
Kalin: What's the point of protecting me? I'm not family...I'm just me.
Ravi: You are a Hybrid, that's why.
Kalin: So you're only protecting me because I'm a Hybrid? ...Now I know what Lenne meant.
Ravi: Only those who show true potential like you. Lenne doesn't have true potential.
Kalin: ...
Ravi: Come on, let's get you to Grandmother.
Kalin didn't move, and Lenne's voice echoed, but only she can hear it. "It's not like anyone here would miss her. I mean she's always in the way."
Ravi: Kalin?
She turned around.
Kalin: ...What is it?
Ravi: Come on, let's get you to Grandmother.
Kalin: ...Sorry, but no.
Ravi: Why not?
Kalin: Cause I'm just some hybrid...Yeah, I might have potential, but I'm not worth much, so there's no use healing me. Because if you guys keep healing me...and you guys leave, then I'll die off.
Ravi: You aren't just a Hybrid.
Kalin turned around, but lost footing and fell into the river.
Kalin: Ah!
