Chapter 29: "Kalin's Inner Hollow"
Ravi: It's no use.
The lightning disappears, and she gasps.
Kalin: ...R-Ravi.
It fails.
Ravi: Offensive powers cannot be used. The willow glades themselves protect the other willows. That's the only ability they have when their Tuners aren't around, or near enough.
Kalin put her arms around Ravi.
Kalin: I don't see how you did it. I wish I was strong like you.
Her voice was calm and soothing.
Ravi: Everything is not as it seems. Illusions rule the mind. Truly, I'm weaker inside at the core.
Kalin: I'm strong at the core, but I'm weak on the outside...I may get hurt, but I will still fight.
Ravi goes through Kalin back to his willow. It glows again, and the pond appears. He walks on it.
Ravi: These illusions are only real when I come into contact. If you were gonna electrocute yourself, you'd also electrocute me.
Kalin runs up and hugs him again, with tears in her eyes.
Kalin: I won't do it... I don't want to hurt you.
Manah peeps.
Ravi: I almost forgot you, didn't I, Manah?
Manah chirps in agreement. Kalin backed up a bit, and looked at Ravi with straight tears...no sounds of crying came out of her.
Kalin: ...I'm going home.
Ravi: Okay.
Kalin sonidos to her broken down home in the poor part of town.
Kalin in a teary voice: Home sweet home.
She walks in and goes to a part of the house where no one would hear her, and began to fully cry. Ravi sheds a single tear of blood when he realized that this event nearly replicated the last time his mother hugged him.

Kalin made some lightning butterflies, and sent them to Ravi.

The butterflies went up to Ravi, and started rearranging them selves. Ravi makes a psi ball and shapes it into a moth, it becomes sand and flutters to Kalin.....................when it reaches Kalin, it falls apart.

Kalin tries to catch it. The moth's remains wilt away. Kalin caught the sand, and held it close. The butterflies kinda fluttered a bit to stay in the air. The butterflies spelt out "I love you" in the air. Ravi dismisses this as just a little thing. Kalin closed her eyes, and the butterflies begin to fade. Ravi walks back to the house. The willow's glow dims, and the pond fades.
Yanagi: Well?
Ravi looks at her: ......
Yanagi: I see. It haunts your heart, and yet it only entrances itself in a memory.
Kalin left her house, and went to the clearing. After arriving she continued to train. Ravi sits in a sage-like position, his fists upside down and touching. Manah pesters him. Ravi doesn't move... Kalin sits down and reads her father's and mother's journals to find out how to changer her back to the way she was supposed to be. Ravi begins to wonder.
Ravi:*Why am I alive?*
Kalin: There's nothing helpful in these books. I'll go to Yanagi...maybe she can help.
Kalin stands up, but falls back down in dizziness, and Kalin grabbed her stomach
Kalin: ...Ugh.
Kalin's spirit energy went down. She gets back up again, and starts slowly walking back to her place, but passes out 1/4 of the way there. There's commotion outside. Yanagi feels a disturbance in the balance and flows to the scene. She prepares the blocks that form a rectangle. She starts healing. Kalin coughs up blood.
Yanagi: Oh dear.
She cleans the blood off and continues healing. A ball forms in her chest. The ball surfaces, but the lightning is black, not yellow or white. Kalin coughs up more blood. Yanagi continues to heal her, and she forms a white light and presses it into her heart. The black lightning covers Kalin, and Kalin coughed up more blood, but Kalin wakes up.
Kalin: Stop.
Yanagi: If I do not, you will die.
Kalin sonidos away from Yanagi.
Kalin in a deeper voice: You said there's a battle in every one of us... Well, I'm ending that battle right here, right now.
Yanagi: That is not how it ends. This battle does not ever end, even in death. And... It is my job to keep others alive, even when they may not want to be healed.
Kalin shoots black lightning up in the air, and creates a dome, then disappears within it. Yanagi flows up to the sphere dome, and creates a healing cube around it. Yanagi sighs and dons her Mask.

She reaches in even deeper. And it finally reaches Kalin. Kalin sees the hollow form of herself.
Kalin: So that's what I'll look like if I resurrect.
Hollow Kalin: Why now do you want to talk to me?
Kalin: I want to end this fight...can't we just be on the same team?
Hollow Kalin: Why, so you can just depend on me if fighting gets rough?
Kalin: No I won't do that.
Hollow Kalin: Oh?
Kalin: I want to become stronger, and fight along with you; I want to be able to protect the people I love.
Yanagi adds in the last part of the mask. Long tendrils flow out and undulate from the brow ridge.
Hollow: Why, so they can just leave you again just like your parents?
Kalin: They're your parents too.
The inner hollow growled, and attacked with a Zanpakuto, and cut into Kalin's shoulder.
Kalin: I don't care what you do to me. I will fight, and protect the people I love...cut me, hit me, do what ever, but I'm not going to turn away.
The inner hollow pulled the blade out of Kalin's shoulder and began cutting her up.
Kalin: I'm not scared of you. You are me, and I'm you... I'm willing to work with you, but I'm not going to use you. You're not just some tool used for fighting.
The inner hollow stops an inch away from Kalin's face.
Hollow Kalin: What!?
Kalin: You are my friend...my family, and I love you like I loved Linka; even though me and Linka fought...I never stopped loving her.
Somehow Kalin's wounds start healing.
Hollow Kalin: Did you mean what you just said?
Kalin looked at the inner hollow.
Hollow Kalin: About you not using me as a tool for fighting?
Kalin: I meant every word of it.
The inner hollow lowered her sword.
Hollow Kalin: Alright, I'll join you. Just as long as you promise me one thing
Kalin: What is that?
Hollow Kalin: That you'll never go back on your word.
Kalin(smiling): I promise.
The inner hollow holds out her hand, and Kalin takes it.
Hollow Kalin: I will lend my power when you truly need it.
The black dome comes down, and Kalin, and the inner hollow are standing there. Then the hollow fades as a black ball and goes back into Kalin. Yanagi's mask melts away. Kalin faints. Yanagi catches her and brings her back down. She then continues to heal her. Yanagi finishes healing. Kalin is still knocked out. After a few hours, Kalin wakes up. She sits up, and looks around.
Yanagi: You should be fine now, my dear.
Kalin: Where am I?
Yanagi: Your home.
Kalin looked at the ground.
Kalin in a depressed tone: I see.
Yanagi: Do not be depressed, that will only bring you down.
Kalin: With what happened today...I have every reason to be.
Yanagi: With everything that has happened, there is a reason for me to be tired. I am not tired because I do not choose to be tired.
Kalin got up.
Kalin: Most of the time, I just don't understand you.
Kalin walked out of the house, and went for a walk in the ghettos of Soul Society. She got to one of the exits, and stared at it.
