Chapter 20: "The Academy"
Ravi: Shunsui-dono wants to see you in person, Grandmother.
Yanagi: Ah, yes. Let us make haste then.
Tamo opens the Garganta, and they all go in towards Soul Society.
Kalin: Hm...
Kalin uses the lightning wings and flew ahead of the group. Yanagi arrives faster than the others somehow, and she waits. Kalin flies out and to where Linka was killed at.
Nel: Sometimes I wonder how she can get somewhere faster than we can, when she's blind.
Kalin goes to where Linka's body once was, and grabbed the necklace, but when Kalin picked up the glove she found a note, and a small pouch.
Kalin: Dear Kalin, I'm sorry for the fights we've had, but it's time you got what Mother and Father wanted to give you...I don't know how it will be useful, but keep it safe. Keep it safe...
Kalin opens the small pouch, and empties it out. At Shunsui's headquarters, Yanagi, Ravi, Tamo, and Nel sit around a fireplace.
Shunsui: Lady Yanagi, tell me, what are your thoughts about the future of Soul Society and Huevo Mundo?
Yanagi thinks for a moment and stares into nothing, then she tilts her head to the flames.
Yanagi(gasp): A great evil will befall both Hueco Mundo, and Seireitei in the near future. I know it is just a gut feeling, but you know what they say, always trust your gut.
Shunsui: Thank you, Lady Yanagi. And Nel, what makes you come here?
Nel: Kalin reminded me of how the students would treat the twins back then. So I have decided to teach them all about Arrancars.
Shunsui: I see. Well, I'll grant permission for that. It would do us a favor to understand.
Yanagi: When we show our respect for other living things, they respond with respect for us. An Arapaho saying.
Shunsui: True, true.
From the small pouch there was two gems, and the handle of a sword; the two gems were missing a shard.
Kalin: So I get to have the stone of regen, an energy booster, and the handle of a sword.

Nel comes into the classroom. The students start chitchatting.
Kalin under her breath: I don't want to be here.
Kalin walks into the room.
Kat(the preppy girl): Ugh, what is she doing here?
one of the boys: Go Home. this place is for people who want to become soul reapers, not for a girl who can't even do a single Kido...
The class started laughing.
Teacher: That's enough!
Boy: Pff what ever!
The boy picked up a piece of paper, crunched it up into a ball and threw it at Kalin. Kalin ducked. Kat and the boy high fives.
Nel: What a noisy classroom.
The teacher turns to Nel.
Teacher: So what brings you two here?
Nel: I came here personally because I thought it would be good if the students could learn more about Arrancar.
The boy who threw the ball stands up and faces a sword at Nel.
Teacher: Mitsuo, put the sword away.
Mitsuo: Arrancars aren't allowed in Soul Society. She needs to leave now, and take that wuss with her.
Kalin stepped in between Mitsuo and Nel.
Kalin: She's not going anywhere, and I'm not a wuss.
Nel: You know, the laws have changed over the years. And the Head Captain himself gave me permission to teach about Arrancar.
Mitsuo: So you're friends with an Arrancar...you're a freak, and you don't belong here, now get out before I kill you for leaving Soul Society.
Kalin's eyes watered, but she didn't move.
Mitsuo: You're already crying like a little baby...you wuss.
Kalin growled.
Nel: Hey, that is not very nice. How would you feel if you were the freak instead?
Mitsuo: But I'm not. I'm at least normal.
Mitsuo drew back his fist and punched Kalin in the face. Kalin fell to the floor, and Mitsuo kicked her then sat back down.
Mitsuo: Loser.
Kalin ran out of the academy.
Nel(sighing): You should know better than to hit a girl.
Some of the students laughed.
Kat: Bull's eye.
Mitsuo: Who cares? And that wasn't no girl...just a freak.
Nel: She is a girl who is lonely. She needs someone who understands her. Anyway, class, I'm here to teach you about Arrancars.
Kat: Save your breath.
Kat got up and walked out of academy. From outside the class heard screaming. Nel walks to the chalkboard, and writes down the classes of Hollows.
Nel: First I'm going to teach you students about -- hang on.
Nel runs to the source of the screams.
