If mandatory deadlines could seriously rush popular mangakas like Kishi. Togashi who makes the HxH series would've gotten the boot a long ass time ago :lol.

I doubt that. Togashi seems to be in far more solid position. But what forced Kishi's hands probably was also the movie, that was scheduled almost right after the ending. A number of factors like his father death etc also occurred around the last year of the manga run but obviously the last date couldn't be changed. The teasers from the movie were still released and they acted as spoilers for the manga ending. So that was kind of a mess with forums already going crazy.

As for pairings- they seem to be your personal pet peeve but it actually isn't that big deal. That was epilogue telling the story 10 years down the line. A lot can happen in 10 years. The war already had ended in a changed environment and new people taking over and collaborating at much larger scale than before. Kishimoto never planned a romance manga and I get the impression that he is not even comfortable enough with such stories. He didn't right the story of the Last. He only tried to make it " as canon as possible" after someone else wrote it- meaning it couldn't 100% fit in but it will have to do to insert romance in the plot.

I cannot comment on Beach yet. For although I ended up reading the last chapter, I haven't read like 100 chapters before it. I need to catch up before reaching any conclusion. But pairings seemed to be the ones that were hinted already.

Anyway, Tumblr must be a battleground right now . Honestly I wonder how the fanbase would've reacted if Kubo said F**k you and made Rukia/Orihime lesbian or alone.

Then it suddenly would become the next progressive manga like LOK and will have its fan gushing over it. :||

Ichigo kicked rukia at their first meeting and for the next arc carried her around like a stray dog. No idea why anyone would pair them up.
