The Pendulum stops near 95 years but goes on for 5 more years. This is the short story of 100 years before the current future. Let us observe the events leading up to the present.
Turn Back the Pendulum Chapter 1- The Origins
A middle-aged looking man walked toward the 1st Squad Barracks. He had a straw hat on and a pink flowered haori over his white captain?s haori.
Shunsui: Nanao-chan, we?re too early again.
Nanao: It?s better than being late, captain. Oh, look someone?s here. O_O
Shunsui: Oh?good morning, Ragnaroc-kun.
Ragnaroc: Oh, hi Kyoraku-san.

Bishamon: What?s up, guys? It?s been too long since we gathered like this all together. I wonder who the new guy is.
Lara: Too much has happened over these past 10 years. I can?t believe Zaraki was killed. Who would?ve thought. And now, Abarai?s becoming the new 6th Squad?s captain.

Elias: It?s probably just a rumor. Otherwise, every other captain would be notified about something that important. Other than that, I heard he got a new lieutenant.
Bishamon: Oh yeah. I remember seeing him. The kid?s a mad genius. He graduated from the academy in one year and was automatically appointed to be a lieutenant as soon as he graduated.
Komamura: In one year?
Shunsui: Yeah?just one year. Nobody?s ever done something like that before. Not even you, Bisha-kun.
Bishamon: One rank?>_> big deal. =/ He isn?t a captain, is he?
Ragnaroc: Man, that?s insane. What kind of person is that? I wonder what kind of person trained him before he became a shinigami. I mean, for him to be that good, only through training could he have received such skill.
Roku: I think Unohana-san taught him the basics of swordsmanship, but man, even with training that?s amazing. And I heard she only taught him for?

Yamamoto: As you all know?former 6th Division Captain, Kuchiki, Byakuya has been promoted. And the former 11th Division Captain Zaraki Kenpachi has been killed. Replacing Captain Kuchiki is his lieutenant, Abarai Renji. And replacing the 11th Kenpachi is the new 12th Kenpachi, Hanzou. So?welcome to the Gotei 13 Captains.

Ragnaroc: What an odd couple of people. They?re nothing like the former captains of their new Squads at all.
Ukitake: That?s just how things are?I guess you can?t change what?s already happened.
Yamamoto: I?d also like you all to recognize three new people. First, my new lieutenant who was appointed to this position the moment he graduated from the shinigami academy. And then, another shinigami, who has just been selected as Captain Abarai?s lieutenant, Kenshin Kuroshou. And finally?a new shinigami replacing Captain Soi Fon?s former lieutenant Omaeda, Bianca Raducea?
