I think Byakuya is working with his Zanpaktou, it wouldn't surprise me, seeing as he and Genryuusai have very similar, stern personalities, as such, their Zanpaktou are more disciplined, hence why Ryuujin Jakka refused to go with Muramasa, why Senbonsakura went, i think it was out of curiosity, then when he found out what was going on, he communicated with Byakuya through his petals.

@Chill Mizu: Nice theory. Would make sense as to why he wants to know where Muramasa is when nobody else is showing much interest, and he didn't say why. But we can't be too sure

Hmm, i disagree, Muramasa could visually tell that he lost control of Zangetsu, and he was vocally told by Ryuujin that Ryuujin couldn't be controlled, and as you may have noticed, he thought he gained control of Shirosaki, but he didn't, so you can't be sure.
