Blast Release, or Bakuton, is an Advanced Element used by those of the Blast Corps from Iwagakure. It is presumed to be created through the use of two basic elemental natures: Earth Release and Lightning Release. The element gives the possessor a unique ability to utilise explosive chakra in combat. Gari, a member of the Blast Corps, was able to utilize it in conjunction with offensive-based taijutsu. Upon making physical contact with a target, the Bakuton user can subsequently generate an enormous explosion from the initial point of direct contact. Due to the specific directionality of the blast, the user minimizes any potential repercussions, such as being struck by resultant debris and even recoil appears to be completely negated. Alternatively, it can be used on the ground to create a shockwave of upturned earth and debris to throw the enemy off balance. Bakuton users can also utilize a less-destructive version of this technique, creating a puff of smoke instead of an explosion.
