And when I say "we", I'm referring to the community as a whole. Oda has left us a major ****ing hint about why Blackbeard can consume two devil fruits in One Piece Green. AKA: The databook that's been out for 4 years now.


Let me explain.

Allow me to translate for you non-weaboos out there.

"Blackbeard" Teach has a SECRET!
The ability to use multiple Devil Fruits, this mystery lies in the constitution of Teach! The key to solving the mystery is the phrase "Twice the life of another"!

Which, as you can see from the scan of Ace above (

), you'll notice that that this is the exact phrase that Ace uses to describe Blackbeard.

Our scan that I linked to above isn't poorly translated, per se. Japanese doesn't have definite pronouns, and the word "another" in our key phrase is a very indefinite pronoun.

An example would be the english phrase "It's impolite to point at someone", with the "someone" being our indefinite pronoun. It's not referring to anyone in particular. However, context changes the usage of the pronoun from indefinite to definite. If you're scolding your child for pointing at a man on the subway, then "someone" refers specifically to that man. Likewise, when Ace said "another" in our key phrase, he was technically the object of the sentence (Teach being the subject) so it makes sense that a translator might replace "another" with Ace.​

It was never an uncommon theory that Blackbeard was somehow two people. Luffy and Zoro's statement at Jaya confirms this.

But the implications are nice. This means that the theory that the Yami Yami no Mi is the reason behind Blackbeard's ability is busted. Likewise the theory about him holding some kind of "Cerberus" devil fruit. My only question at this point, however, is:​

How is it that we've never known about this?? This information has been available for four years. XD

Well there has been this idea that Blackbeard possible has 2 hearts because I think if I remember right the real Blackbeard had a twin that was still born so this posed a theory that OP Blackbeard had twin as well and somehow was born with his twins heart.

But I definitely think why he can use multiple DF's well be because there is something unique about him not just because he has the Yami. DF.

The real Edward Teach, The man know as black beard, had a still born twin. Marshal D Teach could have had a siamse twin or a still born twin he ate or something. Either way we know there was 2 Real life black beards and one of them died. And We have reason to believe that there is two Manga black beards and Marshal D teach is both of them.

I think whatever BB has in him there are 3 of them. Teach will get a zoan (the strongest) and his Jolly Roger has three heads sticking out. To be honest there might be two sides to BB. Shanks got wounded by him and was giving BB mad hype but we haven't seen anything that suggests he could actually do that to someone like Shanks.

Shanks, Marco, Ace, Luffy and Zoro are the only ones who seem to know this "secret" behind BB.

These are my suggestions...

He has a "twin" like the real life Blackbeard
He's pimpin' like Madara Uchiha and has Gol D. Roger's head growing out of his chest or back Lol
He is simply fat
He's eaten a Pokemon
His schlong is big enough for him to be called "they"

Most if not all of these are outrageous and are never gonna happen but im just as lost as everyone else.

First of, if you gonna quote a Japanese scan, be kind enough to provide the whole translation and not just the points you think it's important.

Second, I've read at least 3 theories about Blackbeard and his dual essence nature. Some of them supported the Cerberus DF giving him the power to consume more than one DF and some of them were based on the fact that BB's body is unique and holds two souls. Or something like that. Most of those theories are backed up by Zoro's and Luffy's words in Jaya, Whitebeard's and Shank's mentions on BB.

Since, I can't see the full translation of those pages you provided can't really say that this theory adds up much to the ones that have already been made.
