Could they be his sons?
One thing we forget to judge them for is: how did they share the power of the 9 beasts? They simply said? "Brother you take all of it"? That's just stupid they surely fought for them or something. It's logical that the beasts still stayed as beasts when the sons lived, but why aren't they talking about them. It must be a secret or something.
Also those sage items that Madara spit out... They could have the sage chakra in them or the sage's sons.
It's the only way you can live forever if u have a plan to wake up at some point in the world. Since they were the sage's items it's plausible that he knew a way to get out in case of treason and the sons should know about it.
