It's kind of weird. That sword should be able to dispel the effects of magic, but he didn't hit anyone. Can he now just use the anti-magic on itself with the sword as a catalyst?

I think it's because of Gauche's magic itself rather than just sword, since he was using multiple mirrors and reflections to enhance his sister's mgagic.

I think he used his demon form (or w/e it's called) because I feel like that form itself consists of anti-magic. It kind of looked like it touched the other's around him. Or along the lines of what avani said and that dispelling the magic (by holding the sword) reflected it to the others as well.
Regular fun chapter imo. Interested in seeing what's on the other side of that portal w/ yami and slenderman. Also hope we get to see marie use her magic w/o elf embodiment, in the future. 4/5

Good point.
Now that I read it again it seems Asta pushed hard against Mari's magic and then he touched his three companions spreading that black anti magic covering the sword- new move. We see him stressing to do something and then his sword returns to it's white/metallic sheen while the black ink is flowing out. When he asks his friends if they could "move now", the sword is fully black again. So it was deliberate attempt on Asta's part.
