What? Nagato didn't awaken the Rinnegan for him. It's been stated numerous times that Madara activated the Rinnegan on his own, and before everyone thought he died (Because we now know that he hid in a cave for many years instead), he transplanted those eyes into Nagato either around the time of his birth, or at a very young age.

The argument in the OP is that Madara's sharingan eye was transplanted into Nagato so that it would transform into the Rinnegan, that is what I'm objecting to.

Why is this weird though, my theory is that he gave nagato a normal sharingan, Nagano activated the rinnegan with.... Meanwhile, madara had those sharingan that he told obito he was "borrowing", and evolved those separate sharingan into rinnegan shortly before his death

The thing is, you can't really make a theory for an event when a widely-accepted, canon-supported explanation for said event already exists.

Madara infused himself with Senju DNA, which caused his EMS to evolve into the Rinnegan. Then he found Nagato and transplanted those eyes to him, went into hiding in a cave, gave himself a basic Sharingan in his left eye, and eventually found Obito after he was nearly killed by a bunch of boulders.
