Oxygen is one of the main contributing factors in aging. Pretty ironic, isn't it? Anyhow, I do believe pseudo-immortality is possible once humanity learns to stop cell degeneration. It's all a game of genetics, and we are quite far behind in this field.

I think we need to evolve somehow to not require oxygen, especially if we're going to become an interstellar species in the future. Anyway I sure as hell would like to live 300-500 years instead of the usual 100 years at best.

Oxygen is one of the factors. If its contribution to the mutation of cells is controlled, then I don't think it should be a problem. I hope someone well-informed in this field posts here, as I am not that knowledgeable in this field.
