Personality: Mizuki, even from a kid was always seen as a well-mannered and friendly kid- at least from the outside. In reality, he has never cared for anything or anyone beyond his own strength. He refuses qualities such as teamwork and morality, secretly thinking them jovial, childish ideas. Even from a young age he was always a very mature child, turning to the Sound and becoming a spy at an early age. He is willing to sacrifice whatever he has to in order to complete his goals.
His desire for power seems to come from what appears to be an inferiority complex, watching on and being jealous of the likes of Iruka for getting attention. He hates loudmouths and attention-seekers which leads to his particular hatred for Naruto and Iruka. He was proven to be a very manipulative man, his true intentions and alliance even being hidden from the likes of Hokage Hiruzen who he was on personal terms with. His sweet man facade remained from a child and over time became more and more corrupted and bitter with jealousy for those stronger and more influential than him, and so Mizuki worked from the shadows.
Mizuki is, overall, greatly ambitious and dishonourable.

Abilities:
Mizuki was revealed to have always been considered a very clever and talented ninja with a knack for learning advanced jutsu quickly. His fighting style of choice was the giant shuriken he kept on his back and other large ninja tools. He was even strong enough to defeat a jōnin such as Shizune when under the influence of the Animal Cursed Seal. He was also shown to be a very cunning manipulator from how he so easily deceived Naruto and then later the Legendary Stupid Brothers.
After Mizuki's life in prison, had obtained an extreme amount of strength, able to almost easily overwhelm Iruka in their initial clash with a single hand. During his battle with Iruka, he demonstrated a new mastery of a random assortment of jutsu. While mostly improvised, he proved very capable of using them in creative combinations that Iruka just barely survived. Orochimaru has granted Mizuki a special tattoo which was a prescription of a potion that initially transformed him into a muscle-bound tiger-like behaemoth of himself, with tremendous raw strength and brutality, at the cost of slowing himself down drastically.

History:
Coming from a very insignificant clan, Mizuki always aimed to be sociable. Growing up in a very paranoid and strange time for Konoha after the sudden attack of the Kyuubi and the death of the Fourth, his parents were constantly anxious and taught him the world was a scary, horrid place. Despite this, he was popular and played with the other kids of the academy often. He grew up with no significant role model, considering the Hokage to be overrated old fools he became interested and annoying by the class clown Iruka.
Pretending to be good friends with everyone he watched as Hokage Hiruzen treated Iruka better than everybody else, simply for his parents dying in the Kyuubi attack, Mizuki grew bitter and jealous that Iruka was getting special treatment from the village and from his class despite being talentless. Mizuki became a chunnin at the late age of 18- his powers and intelligence were on par but was constantly bettered and badly matched against those less deserving of him. Hiruzen eventually appointed him Chunnin, but only after Iruka- it was too late by then as Mizuki would mysteriously disappear into the forests at night to convene with Kabuto Yakushi of the Hidden Sound, realising his true calling.

Upon Orochimaru's orders and the lack of power- he became an academy teacher much to his disgust, sharing a job with the very man he hated. Mizuki would've easily made jounin after his significant strength rise during the period of these visits with the Hidden Sound, he was allowed to also undertake missions alongside his teaching job but the suspicions on his conduct while in the field stopped him from advancing beyond chunnin rank. Whilst in the academy Mizuki's orders became more and more urgent, and Mizuki providing no quality results becomes desperate and plans to steal an important Konoha scroll to give to Lord Orochimaru. The plan takes weeks to put into place when his target is found. Pouncing on the youth's desire to graduate, Mizuki duped Naruto Uzumaki into stealing Konoha's Scroll of Seals for him. Originally, Mizuki had the plan set up to have Naruto as a scapegoat and kill him to hide the truth of his deception and secretly leave the village with the scroll in his possession, which he decided he would instead keep for himself and become powerful, even strong enough to fight the Sound Village that would come after him.
However, Mizuki's plan is derailed when Iruka found Naruto first and decided to reveal Naruto's identity as the Nine-Tails's jinchūriki to ensure he runs off disillusioned. However, overhearing Iruka standing up for him, Naruto comes to his teacher's aid and uses the Multiple Shadow Clone Technique he had learned from the scroll to beat Mizuki unconscious for harming Iruka. Mizuki was arrested and put into the Konoha Strict Correctional Facility.
Upon Lady Tsunade's appointment as Hokage, Mizuki began vigorously exercising and eventually plans a prison riot to escape from jail, intending to use the instructions given to him by Orochimaru to create a potion to increase his power and get his revenge on both Naruto and Iruka. Taking out ninja such as Asuma, Kurenai and Shizune with his prison associates he attempts to find Iruka and challenge him one on one. This plan is again failed by Naruto who defeats him with a newly-made rasengan. The flawed side effects of the Animal Curse Seal take effect with the defeated Mizuki reduced to a frail old man. Although his life was saved by Tsunade as she restored him to his original form, having no information on Orochimaru's whereabouts while being interrogated, Mizuki loses his ability to ninjutsu for what is later revealed to be have been a failed experiment of Orochimaru's. Mizuki was returned to the prison without the ability to perform jutsu and his body a disfigured mess.
