Most of you probably don't know this series, but you may know Naoki Urasawa, its writer, from his other popular works such as Monster, Pluto, and 20th Century boys. Billy Bat's plot revolves around a somewhat popular comic book artist named Kevin Yamagata, best known for his comic series Billy Bat. He deeply enjoys what he does and has come far with his beloved series. However, he learns that his main character's design (Billy Bat) looks very similar to another source. Kevin arrives to the conclusion that he may have subconsciously stolen the design from somebody else. An honest man who has grown up despising the idea of stealing others' work, he sets out to confirm if his fears hold any weight. But it doesn't take him long to realize that the Bat has a far greater impact on mankind's history than he could ever imagine...

OK, I think potential readers need a fair warning: Urasawa excels at building hype in his stories. He knows exactly what and when certain events should happen to make his fans blast through the pages. This can act as a double-edged sword. getting the readers excited is something that a lot of writers strive for. However, if you're not satisfied by the end result, you might find yourself staring down a 10 mile high cliff, unable to find the smooth elevator ride down you had been expecting from the beginning.

To me, the ending of this series showcases this at its finest. I was prepared for it since I'm accustomed to the dude's writing style by now, but if I wasn't... I'm not sure how I would react.

So yeah, Billy Bat is a pretty crazy series. These type of images sum it up rather well.

This be Jesus?

Does it have an anime ?
Yes it follows Jesus and other figures throughout history, but very briefly (but I don't want to spoil them here).

No unfortunately :( . I highly doubt it's getting an anime... if anything, 20th Century Boys would get one way before it. If you don't like reading manga in general then I don't think you will like this one

Overall I would rate it a 8/10 - solid good series. The final arc could have been done better, but it was obviously a criticism of what's happening in the world now. The ending was not clear, and that is not a bad thing. All of Urasawa's works that I've seen have unclear endings.

I think I need to reread the series in its entirety... choppy reading habits (since it was ongoing, had breaks, translation lag, etc.) made it hard to keep the story line together for me.
