We know that Rikudou Sennin used The Creation of All Things or Banbutsu Sōzō to divide the Juubi's chakra into the nine Bijuus but did the technique also gave them their consciousness? we know for a fact that it was Rikudou who named the Bijuus but it was never clarified if Rikudou was the one who actually gave them their consciousness or not. We know for a fact Kurama stated that the Juubi was a mindless innate force of nature but was Kurama just describing what the Juubi was before the dawn of time? is it not possible that the Juubi had formed a sort of collective consciousness with the passing of centuries or millenniums? and what was Obito noticing about the Juubi's consciousness? it seems he himself is baffled with the apparent consciousness the Juubi is displaying, whether it came from him (giving it consciousness) or from other unexplained means, thoughts?

UPDATE: Now this is just all a rumor in the Japanese 2ch forums but they said that Juubi, like the Bijuus have an actual name (eg. Kyuubi-Kurama) Amatsu.

He most likely has a consciousness and I hope we get to see it since madara and obito aren't controlling the juubi anymore

Or maybe Kurama is the consciousness of the Juubi. He seems to be the only one who remembers everything including everything about the seal that Rikudo Sennin used on the Juubi.m

Yes rollin I agree with you :)

What's more disturbing is that it grew an ear: a human ear!

Yea, I agree. I remember I used this theory of yours (The one you made a while ago) as a way to link it to one of my theories while I was doing my Biology culmination.

Hmm... Well, as far as the Juubi and Obito, they are controlling it. I think he was worried he gave it too much freedom. In regards to Kurama's statement, maybe he meant how the Juubi went about things. Maybe it seemed mindless but indeed does have a mind. It is just indifferent.

That reminded me of that see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil saying
I wonder exactly what that could mean

And yet it is able to see (has eyes) hear(has ears) and pretty soon..... speak!

I think Kishi is showing the dichotomy of the statement from the actual situation, see no evil and yet it can see, hear no evil and yet it has ears, and pretty soon it might even speak.

That statement from Obito does raise some doubts...or rather, it adds to the confusion of things xd

I wish more was known about the process of the sealing of the bijuus into the Gedo Mazo, perhaps there´s something there that can be explored...I honestly don´t know.

Well, (what I am assuming) his prime form was only shown with his eye as a predominant feature. Perhaps it communicated telepathically. You know, the basic larvae stage having a mouth crawling, the median stage having an upright stance forming its ear, mouth and eye further (thus signifying its growing humanization/intelligence) and then its prime form: Giant completed eye and evolving past the need of a mouth, thus communicating with its mind.

Yes that does make sense, like some sort of Lovecraftian eldritch monster with psionic capabilities

About the name...the Juubi has 4-5 names if I remember correctly. Is there a need for one more? xd

Well the names are more of adjectives like Juubi or One-Eyed-God rather than a proper noun, the same way Kyuubi is more of an adjective and Kurama is his proper name, I think.

So all of them where adjectives? I didn't know that.

Then what does Amatsu mean? (even if it is just a rumor )

It is the name of a primordial god in Japanese mythology: Amatsu-Mikaboshi, which would make sense since Juubi is a primordial god itself.

From Wikipedia

In Japanese mythology, Amatsu-Mikaboshi (ja:天津甕星, "August Star of Heaven"), also called Ame-no-Kagaseo (ja:天香香背男, "Brilliant Male"), is a god of evil and of the stars, specifically the pole star.[1] He is mentioned in passing in the Nihon Shoki as an opponent of Takemikazuchi-no-kami during the latter's conquest of the land of Izumo, and is sometimes identified with the figure of Takeminakata in the Kojiki.
