Can't say I remember seeing any threads about this on here recently, so I'm gonna go ahead and give you guys my predictions on what Charlotte Lin Lin's abilities are. I definitely believe that Big Mom has a devil fruit ability. Being a Yonko requires an enormous amount of notoriety and the only real way to do that in a world of pirates is to have power. Holding this position makes Big Mom the most powerful female pirate in the world; and I believe there is good reason for this. Here's my theory; (note that this is all purely speculation)
Big Mom's devil fruit allows her to perform witchcraft. This includes casting spells, making potions, enchanting things, and so much more. I think that it is probably a Mythical Zoan fruit; more specifically the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Witch.
It could possibly be a Paramecia though. A power like this could definitely have landed Charlotte her seat amongst the Yonko and makes a lot of sense for her character based on what we know so far. Oda has been dropping subtle details that fit into this theory which I will discuss below:
First, Big Mom is able to "enchant" inanimate objects, like her ship.
Some people think that the ship ate a devil fruit. While that is but wouldn't it sink then?
I think it's more likely that Charlotte can give life or consciousness to otherwise non-moving things and make them obedient to her. I believe this will include things like trees, puppets, and even weapons. Being able to take control of her environment would definitely be a huge battle asset. I think it's even more plausible that Big Mom "enchanted" her ship since this would not be the first time we've seen an ability that can animate non-living things (Gekko Moriah & Kanjuro.)
Next, the home base of Big Mom's operations lies on Whole Cake Island
So, she is a witch who lives on an island entirely made out of dessert foods. Sound vaguely familiar? Yep, that's right. I believe Oda is throwing in a direct reference to Hansel & Gretel with this one. Big Mom has been noted to have an insatiable appetite for sweets, but has also been seen eating her crew members. For those who don't know; in the old children's story, the two kids find a house made entirely of sweets. Inside lives a witch who has plans of her own for them. Long story short, the witch fattens up Hansel to eat him and makes Gretel her slave. She did, however, plan to eat Gretel anyway which could tie in with Big Mom remorselessly eating her own crew members. I imagine Luffy & co. taking the fight to her home turf (as she doesn't really seem like the type to move around much) and the events on Whole Cake Island will probably be a bit similar to those of Thriller Bark (regarding being chased around by creepy reanimated stuff.)
While not really solid evidence, a non-canon antagonist could help further my point just a bit as well.
Patrick Redfield from One Piece: Unlimited World Red is the user of the Batto Batto no Mi, Model: Vampire
The only point I'm trying to make from this one is that if a Vampire fruit is plausible, so is a Witch fruit. Both are humanoid, horror-themed mythical beings. Note that Redfield was designed by Oda.
Lastly, Charlotte's "stomach acid" seemed to generate a bit of attention when it was first shown dripping and burning the floor. I have a theory behind that too. All witches seem to have a cauldron in which they make potions and things of that nature. Big Mom might actually be a cauldron herself. The things that she eats might have a direct effect on her magic. This could be why she is so adamant about getting her sweets. Some stronger spells might require human sacrifices and could tie in with her devouring her own subordinates. This part is a bit of a whim, but would be a decently exploitable weakness when the time comes for someone to fight with her. Again, this would be somewhat reminiscent of Thriller Bark when Moriah consumes 1,000 shadows and becomes much stronger than before. Big Mom could eat secret reserves of candy and gain powers that she doesn't normally use or something like that. Would be really cool to see something like that I think.
Overall, I think this fruit would make Charlotte Lin Lin aka Big Mom a very interesting opponent who is not easy to defeat by any means. As well as her "enchanting" spells discussed above, I'm sure that she has numerous offensive and defensive spells at her disposal. While completely unconfirmed, I believe her magic powers may even range to the possibilities of mind control, magical barriers, and maybe even elemental based attacks. She may also possess something along the lines of a levitation spell since, as stated earlier, she doesn't seem like the type to move around much.
What do you guys think of this theory? Would you like to see Big Mom with these powers? Do you have other ideas about her abilities and background? Let me know in the comments below and thanks for reading.
